Slow down and remember this:
Most things make no difference.
Being busy is a form of laziness—lazy thinking and indiscriminate action.
Being overwhelmed is often as unproductive as doing nothing, and is far more unpleasant.
Being selective—doing less—is the path of the productive.
Focus on the important few and ignore the rest.
If you want people to believe in you, start carrying yourself like someone worth believing in. Do the old fashioned things well. Stand tall. Move deliberately. Make eye contact. Take care of your body and mind. Listen. Speak with intention. If you do that, you’ll start believing in yourself, and the world will have no choice but to follow suit.
Major cheat code for life: Increase your recovery speed.
You will get rejected. You will lose money. You will embarrass yourself. The goal isn't to avoid the fall. It's to shorten the time between the fall and the reset.
The ultimate life hack is the ability to quickly reset and recover.
From a poor decision. From a bad interaction. From a missed workout. From a bad day. You can start over whenever you want. You can't always control what happened, but you can control how long you carry it.
Fast recovery compounds.
Major cheat code for life: Don’t mourn the time you've lost, use the time you still have. Most people walk around haunted by a list of things they wish they’d done by now. They tell themselves it’s too late. It’s not. 6 months from now, it can still be a dream, or it can be real.
Suddenly, you're 27.
You got the degree. Got the job. Got the apartment.
You're doing fine. It's everything you planned for, right?
Wake up. Commute. Work. Commute. Eat. Screen. Sleep.
35 more years of this. Same desk. Same route. Same ceiling.
But it's everything "21-year-old you" wanted.
Or was it?
You're 27. Not 57. You still have time to build something that's actually yours.
But only if you start now. Because next thing you know, you're 35, same city, same pub, wondering what happened.
Start before you're ready. That's the only way.
@yslmammi It is the truth we all hate to admit. Consistency with the basics really does change your whole mindset. Once you stop fighting the routine and start embracing it, everything else just falls into place. Discipline is the highest form of self-love.
@orangebook And on the rare occasion that they're thinking about you, they'll forget it in the next 24 hours.
Stop giving so much power to individuals to where they change the trajectory of your life, making you live a life of unfulfilled dreams, goals, and aspirations.
You're in control.
The less you take yourself seriously, the "luckier" you will get in life. Get rid of your pride and fear of embarrassment. Put yourself in situations where you will grow regardless of whether you feel like it or not. No one is watching, no one cares. You're gonna live your life, die, and be vaguely remembered for one or two generations if you had a loving family, that's about it.
