Has to be this play with the whole jersey-untucked rule against the Wolves when he was with the Thunder.
This is the most Chris Paul thing of all time. A rule that 99.9999999999999% of players wouldn't have noticed, and it ended up swinging the result of a game.
@MattZeitlin Very half remembered quote, but I think I recall Hobsbawm making this point, that Iceland and Lichtenstein were basically viewed with amusement by the rest of the world and only cared about by stamp collectors until the post-WWII international orgs popped up
@ghunkinking@DanielBikes_@FullLaneFemme@RichardHasse Most people in America live in urban or suburban areas. In many cities proper, half of trips are below 3 miles each. Of course I won't recommend that you, in a deep rural area, use an ebike. But your situation is different than many, if not most, in the US
@ghunkinking@FullLaneFemme@RichardHasse I love this mindset. "Let me just put on a 2-ton rain parka because I don't want a drop of water on me." Are you made of sugar?
@Danpearson266 @jbarro What vegan ingredients are less sustainable than beef etc? Are you thinking water-intensive nuts here? Carbon-wise, I think plant-based is almost universally lower than animal-based, with almost no overlap
@profmusgrave@eurocanard Yeah @DeanBaker13 says this all the time. Need to contextualize what $1bil is in the context of the federal budget. Plus there's reason to believe that "$1.9 trillion" sounds like less money to the lay-person than like "$840 billion" simply b/c the # is smaller
@Vinncent@goodopinionhavr Very true, if anything paying $5k a month for any apartment would use a fraction of the energy of paying $5k a month for a McMansion in Connecticut?
@foo78017145 @youngish@AStuttaford @MilwaukeeBonds At the same time as the capital gains tax goes up though, downside risk goes down because you're equally increasing the deduction you can take on potential capital losses!
@shulmaven @JWMason1 Business owners when unemployment is high: Tough shit, get more skills.
Business owners when workers don't grovel in front of their feet for a job: This is a national emergency
@wwwojtekk@jdcmedlock Correct me if I'm wrong but the government does pay for at-home care, there's just a huge waiting list and it's not an entitlement? People hate institutionalized care but it's cheaper and the cost seems to be why it's dominant
@wwwojtekk@jdcmedlock Is competition in the "caring for old people" game something that's at all desirable though? What possible productivity increases could come from competition that don't translate into lower quality care?
@gspeng @raytatoes @RottenInDenmark Also w/r/t the similar "international investors use luxury buildings as money laundering instruments and keep them empty" theory - why wouldn't they just rent them out in the meantime? Money laundering businesses (like some taxi co's) do, in fact, provide the nominal service too!
