rejecting the ceasefire but also saying you'll wait till after the midterms to start bombing Iran again is an odd way of saying you have no good options
This is grotesque behavior. Joe Biden was an American president. Xi is a communist dictator, and the head of a foreign state. Our internal divisions are not fair game in this context. https://t.co/IfOs1Yyl3b
The whole party owns the nonsense. It's so embarrassing. Imagine going off to Washington for the first time with aspirations of helping your country... and then one day your job turns out to be making this social media post.
Here’s some data: the sitting governor of Kansas, Laura Kelly, is a Democrat. Adam Hamilton, a megachurch pastor, has a shot at winning the Senate race there for Democrats.
Trump won Kansas by 16 points in 2024.
If heterodox Democrats like Kelly and Hamilton can win states Trump carried by double digits, there is simply no reason we cannot win a Senate supermajority of closer to 60 than 50.
Once you set that as your goal, many other strategic and tactical decisions flow from it.
But the first step is understanding that it is possible and has been done in our lifetimes.
Democrats are in disarray (clearly) but the converse is that Republicans are in way too much array for a party whose leader is putting up numbers like this, everyone is marching in lockstep off the cliff with no debate or infighting about the course of action.
If this is true, it is just baffling. An administration whose posture is that we *should* export advanced AI chips to China, which also wants to ban… Britain (and every other non-American on Earth)… from using our best models? I have no words.
Obama expressed empathy for Trayvon Martin and @benshapiro had a decade long tantrum. Imagine if instead he had stolen $1.8 bil from taxpayers and had BLM dole it out to whoever they wanted. Because that's what Trump is doing but for insurrectionist whites instead.
I have no problem with reassessing where our forces should be and what they should be doing based on national security interests. I do have a problem with it being dependent on whether or not world leaders are sufficiently groveling for scraps of Trump's mercy.
This is a THEFT far worse than Watergate. There is no other word for it. They are stealing $1.78 BILLION dollars to pay Trump‘s allies, despite knowing that these people are not legally entitled to any money and be laughed out of court if they filed a lawsuit for money damages.
Have there been any Trump supporting deficit hawks writing enraged editorials about how their guy is the worst president in history on their core issue?
Here's what the Utah GOP did:
1. They sued federally to block the new map.
2. They packed the UT Supreme Court, creating two brand new justices
3. They created a brand new “constitutional court” panel that will hear challenges to state law, avoiding the Supreme Court altogether
@davidshor@Nate_Cohn It's funny, one of the main targets of the VRA was MMDs, which is sort of my thought about neutral rules shifting in terms of who they benefit over time. I think you could have some system where we increase the size of the house but require PR within MMDs and it works well.
