@BasedMikeLee But the corn you put in cars , the fat and protein goes to animals as feed as more efficient from called distillers grains . 99.9% of corn grown isn’t for humans.
@ComputerSageJAB@E_Energy_Adams You are massively ignorant. There is no subsidy . Corn is used to feed animals , the fat and protein left over from ethanol production is a most digestible value added animal feed that is more efficient than whole corn for animal diets. Nothing is lost
@JoeTurco@toottootchoo@RepDonBacon You are wrong . Maybe in 1970 it used more energy , modern agriculture is super efficient and so is ethanol production.
@WhosThisGaltGuy@ChuckGrassley There is no fake demand. It’s real demand. And ethanol doesn’t waste any food, it’s produces a meal as a co product for animal feed. You are an idiot
@michaelgwaltz “the world cannot allow the precedent to stand that one side can try to punish the world’s economies in an attempt to gain leverage with the other side.” - devils advocate here but isn’t that what tarrifs and sanctions aim to do ?
@SGhasseminejad@miadmaleki Except that Miad and others concluded that shutting production would be catastrophic for Iran. Maybe that is true , but they could manage the shutdowns appropriately and underestimate their ability to mitigate any long term damage. Also the damage to non Iranian wells
@briangobosox 100% , but it isn’t immediately existential for Trump and I guess my point is many are making the calculation on which side will endure the most pain with the conclusion that it hurts Iran more but then they fail to account that that truth is what prevents Iran from giving up.
@briangobosox The market hasn’t accepted yet that the paradigm has likely changed forever, that there is no putting this genie back in bottle. The more pain Iran endures the more dug in they will be in seeing some return of investment for that pain. The more existential it becomes for them.
@briangobosox Valid thought stream , I would say the counter argument is the pain from the strait closure isn’t linear. And if it stays closed the next month plus , the S&P and global economy is going to have to start to price it as it removes the assumption (hope) it will resolve somehow.
@cenkuygur “Iran has offered to take uranium out of their country “. Did they? Where? Every report I’ve seen has denied this. Closest was they would dilute it on Iranian soil, but they not giving it up.
@zerohedge I read it differently , I read them saying crude from gulf countries that have USA bases attacking will not pass , but global customers are free to buy from Iran. It’s an smart chess move in response to Karg island attack , blackmailing the global economy to remove sanctions
@E_Energy_Adams@BryanBoock@AaronBobeck Where does the discretionary ethanol demand come from in the short term ? Another possibility is demand destruction which is function of oil / products market right now no?
@DOMOCAPITAL@OldMammoth69@dunnde They hedged too conservatively .and too soon . They saw a bridge to get them to where they needed to be in 2026 , and they locked it in. Margins could have crashed.
