The County of Brecknock or #Brecon (Sir Frycheiniog) is a shire in the mountains of Mid-Wales.
It takes its name from Brycheiniog - a small, independent petty kingdom in the Early Middle Ages, approximating to today's #Brecknockshire.

Eastern Wardens have been helping volunteers complete their brush cutter training by clearing paths above Llanthony.
They also helped set up and assist at the recent dry stone walling and hedge laying competition that took place in the Llanthony Valley.
Waterfall Country was roaring today after all the rain over night. I took a lovely couple from Hong Kong on our "Heart of the Park & Waterfall Country" tour today. #breconbeacons
Happy #MonmouthshireDay!
Celebrated on St Cadoc’s day, chosen because of the high regard the locally born 5th-6th century abbot has in #Monmouthshire (Sir Fynwy).
He is known as “Cattwg Ddoeth”, “Cadoc the Wise”, for his many maxims and sayings.

A big moment: I'm at London Heathrow Airport flying up to Keflavik, #Iceland to lead my first overseas tour in 18 months! Simultaneously also starting tomorrow is our #geology of #Namibia tour led by Nicole Grűnert. Guests for both tours are in the air as we speak!
Chwarel y Fan is a peak in the mountainous north of Monmouthshire on the border with Brecknockshire, within the Black Mountains. https://t.co/0E8ikMAMDr
Yesterday my "Mountain, Monks & Books" tour was booked as a birthday present for Mark by his wife Sacha. I took them to Llangorse Lake, Sorgwm Pass, Pwll-y-Wrach waterfall, Bronllys Castle, Hay-on-Wye, The Warren, Lord Hereford's Knob & Capel-y-Ffin.
It was a first for us today: we had a cat join us on a tour! The #cat happily went behind 2 waterfalls! Also on the tour were the cat's owners from Brecon, a couple from Stroud & their dog, and a French lady who had previously joined me on an @GeoWorldTravel tour around Scotland
Today we led our "History & the Whole Park" sightseeing tour which included Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman, Early Medieval, Middle Age & Industrial Revolution stops and all 4 regions of the #BreconBeacons Highlights included @carreg_cennen & @BreconCathedral
Took a wonderful family from London on our "Heart of the Park & Watetfall Country" sightseeing tour yesterday. The break in the weather meant the waterfalls were looking much better after a little rain. #breconbeacons
Two great days of walking tours for a brother & sister from Singapore. Yesterday we did our "All the Falls" walk taking in 14 waterfalls. Today we did our Pen-y-Fan C tour which sumited Corn Du, Pen-y-Fan, Cribyn & Fan-y-Bîg. #breconbeacons
Busy day yesterday, led a couple from Essex on my @BrecBeaconsTour 'Best of Both Worlds' walking tour that takes in both Pen-y-Fan & Sgwd-yr-Eira. When I got home I gave a talk to the @OpenUniGeolSoc on the Geology of Morocco. Back to the waterfalls to lead another walk today.
