@cbcwhatonearth Indoor heat and the elderly: There are cheaper options to air conditioners: black out curtains (Dollar Store), window film (Home Depot), stick on black out accordion blinds ($10 at IKEA). All these will save on electricity and are easy to install.

Maybe u should check the stats on power outages, length of outage, and number affected and compare that to other areas.
