This is the single largest secondary school's sporting event in the country and most prestigious. The fact they are looking for sponsors is disheartening to say the least. Surely this is a potential gold mine event for @Nike or another major brand to get behind?
@BriShaw81 In some cases the schools pay on behalf of their athlete reaching that level of competition, but this is on a school by school basis. Also perhaps there is individual funding from county teams as well depending on if they have sponsors?
@flowsdoc@Padres Nothing new, teams drafting shortstops and moving them to fit team needs or positions. What is different is development focused training of coaching kids to do things like throw on the run even if it means more errors and less wins in short term
If education is really โall about the kidsโ then why do we:
*limit physical activity, play time, the arts, socialization
*focus on standardized tests as success
* give students little voice/input into learning
* focuses on their weaknesses not strengths
In just TWO years I was able to go from Freshman infielder to striking out 50% (15/30) of the batters faced in the MLB Playoffs.
There are many contributors that made this possible.
But I found 2 where no one else looked.
You may be surprised.
This is what happened...
"Politicians obviously are listening to the mining interests over the First Nations interests."
Indigenous communities in the U.S. want Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to listen to their demands and safeguard their waters from mining pollution.

If Caitlin Clark was black, she'd be labelled as the selfish superstar who couldn't win the big game and got what was coming to her. If Angel Reese was white she'd be praised as the consummate teammate and the type of glue player every championship team has (which she is)
The treatment of Angel Reese by the media has been yet another clear example of how racism still oozes through the public collective and sporting culture. If you really watched the game and Reese play, you'd see that she is the epitome of a great competitor and teammate.
LSU won that game because they are a true team, held together by a glue player who does all the little things that contribute to winning. Iowa was a team that made it that far due to a superstar. If the roles were reversed the narrative would be completely different
