Magazine Cover Capital goes short USO.
As was the case when it went long US dollars a few weeks ago... I hate it ! But the indicator is the indicator. It's worked out of sample for more than 10 years now.
Last 12 months results xls attached. 15 of past 18 are in the money. Absurd gross returns 244% (not vol-weighted yes obviously yadda yadda).
If you're not familiar with this indicator go to spectra markets dotcom, library, and type "magazine cover" in the search ... it's free.
Please read article before arguing about cherry picking or sample size etc none of those things apply here. It's all objective and real-time and the sample size is in the 100s over 30+ years in and out of sample.
@Osint613 Hope Tucker got a sandwich from the authorities, upon arrival at BenGurion airport. Then he can justly claim Greta Thunberg level experience !
The internationalist centrist boomer takes are out and as expected, they're furious about the "illegal action" against Maduro and spouting on about international law, saying this gives a green light to the likes of Putin and Xi to attack other countries with impunity.
My sweet sweet summer child. One can simply just post the spider man pointing to spider man gif and be done with it.
Because international law is kaput. Those who have been paying attention know that we have been at war for YEARS, just not the kind you read about in history textbooks.
These are not industrial scale wars with armies but non-state actors locked in low-boil proxy struggles and hybrid campaigns that span the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. These militias, insurgent groups, terrorist organizations, and proxy forces operate with the covert backing, funding, or direction from powerful states who provide them with plausible deniability.
This allows sponsoring states to pursue geopolitical goals - territorial influence, resource control, or ideological dominance - without risking direct confrontation or full-scale war. And believe me, they've been pursuing it.
The idea that Trump's actions will give Putin a pretext to annex territory (lol) or Xi permission to say, seize Taiwan, is LAUGHABLE. They don't need permission and never did. They act on their own accord, and on their own timeline.
The human brain runs on stories, not statistics. Which is why facts lose to fiction every time in a public debate.
A winning political campaign tells you about a mother at her kitchen table, staring at medical bills for her husband Joe's cancer. The losing campaign talks about healthcare system efficiency metrics. Which one is more likely to resonate with voters?
This pattern repeats everywhere. If someone attacks you with a false story, defending with true statistics almost guarantees you defeat.
What to do instead? Lulu Cheng Meservey explains:
@havivrettiggur Fascinating! Any chance you deep dive into this here or in a podcast? Has it 1. always been like this 2. occurring at particular periods in history 3. In its scope, is a new phenomena. Thanks for the great work, Haviv.
