#DigiTechS22B There are a lot of social activist movements that would not be possible without disruptive technology like social media. For example, fundraising has never been as easy as it is with online fundraisers.
@tazzzy04 I would say that this is already true. It seems like most households already have gotten rid of landlines, and phones control much of our daily lives in the sense that it is pretty much a necessity to have a smartphone nowadays.
@UPAMAROY10 I am curious to see how cryptocurrency will play out in the future. More and more people are holding it, but I am skeptical if it will ever become common in everyday transactions.
@AngelesBritezz I think that at lower levels, in-person education will mostly stay the same, but I think colleges will implement more and more virtual options as time goes on. People have seen how convenient and flexible online classes can be.
#DigiTechS22B I predict that self-driving technology will skyrocket in the next 10-15 years. With trucking in particular, self-driving technology ensures that all of our goods get transported regardless of labor shortages.
@sft29ru That's an intriguing topic. There's so many different ways that robots can take away jobs. The first one that comes to mind is how many quick service restaurants now have you order at a screen rather than with a person.
@TDC_RJ That's an interesting topic. Personally, I think that movie theaters will stick around mainly because there is a social aspect that keeps people going to the movies. But certainly movie theaters will be less profitable going forward.
@OceloltXelhua TikTok has certainly had a huge impact on our society so far. I'm curious to see if the app will stick around like facebook and instagram or go away like vine.
#DigiTechS22B The topic for my EDTP project will be facebook. I chose facebook because it has had such a drastic impact on our society. This ranges from a purely social aspect to more serious effects like the spread of harmful information.
@FParnagian I like the idea of cable tv but I think the price is a limiting factor for a lot of people, including young people getting their own places for the first time. When young people stop using any technology, it normally doesn't last much longer.
@pangu629 It is quite scary how dependent we are. I remember one day in high school I left my phone home by accident and I felt so anxious the whole day I kept instinctively reaching for my pocket. I feel like phones are designed to be addicting!
@yaolu77039770 I've tried ebooks but I will always prefer a paper book. I am glad, however, that the industry is evolving and that it is easier than ever to get access to books. Reading is so important and I hope ebooks keep young people reading.
#DigiTechS22B One social norm that has changed is the lack of face to face conversation. Nowadays people in the same room will all be on their phones instead of talking to each other https://t.co/JyxF4H8fpe
