Amid growing housing demand driven by rapid urbanisation in the City of Champions, the Eldoret Railway City Affordable Housing Project is emerging as one of the most significant government-led residential developments in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
The large-scale project comprises 15 residential blocks rising 14 floors each (G+14), delivering approximately 2,180 housing units across social, affordable and market segments to respond to the City's expanding population.
Construction commenced in April 2025 and currently supports about 1,000 workers on site, highlighting the project's substantial contribution to job creation alongside housing delivery.
The development also incorporates 65 commercial shops designed to stimulate local enterprise and support everyday urban living.
Planned as a self-sufficient mixed-use community, the project will feature an Early Childhood Development (ECD) centre, a primary and junior school and recreational amenities including basketball courts, a swimming pool and a clubhouse.
It will also include essential social infrastructure such as a community centre, clinic, supermarket and a police station, supported through strategic oversight by the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration to ensure safe and secure public spaces for residents. Presided over by Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki and hosted by CS Hon. John Mbadi (National Treasury & Economic Planning), we joined the wananchi for a resource mobilization drive in support of small trader groups in Suba South Constituency, Homa Bay County.
The initiative seeks to strengthen financial access, build enterprise capacity and expand growth opportunities for grassroots traders, directly advancing the goals of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
The event brought together national and regional leadership, including ODM Party Leader and Siaya Senator, Hon. Oburu Odinga.
Hosted the leadership of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, reaffirming the cordial working relationship between the State Department and the Church.
Our partnership continues to advance environmental conservation, notably through the distribution of fruit tree seedlings to Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs during the Chiefs' Climate Action Days.
Over the past three years, the Church has donated 575,000 seedlings, with plans underway to scale up the initiative within the year.
The upgrade to bitumen standards and routine maintenance of the Rusinga Island Ring Road, launched by H.E. President @WilliamsRuto in August 2024 and implemented by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (@KURAroads), marks a major investment in unlocking the economic potential of the Lake Victoria shoreline.
The project is strategically designed to open up the island, enhance mobility and catalyse the Blue Economy by improving access to fishing beaches, lakefront settlements and tourism sites.
Improved connectivity is expected to stimulate trade, boost tourism, lower transport costs and create new opportunities for local communities whose livelihoods depend on fishing, hospitality and small-scale enterprise.
The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration has played a complementary role by coordinating local administration, supporting orderly project implementation and strengthening border and maritime security within Kenya's territorial waters of Lake Victoria.
This integrated approach safeguards economic activity while ensuring that development, safety and national security advance together as the region is opened up for sustainable socio-economic growth. 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝘀 - https://t.co/7wwbENVv9g
