Thanks, Grace! Always important to incorporate #ATSI perspectives into our learning. Kreative Koala's is another site that focuses on AUS in regards to #SDG14. It uses art + #multimedia to inspire the younger gen to reflect and act at a local level. https://t.co/f8CYUEEhDI
An incredible resource that I will be embedding within my unit plan on 'Life Below Water'. This activity book focuses on what 'sea country' means to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples' and the traditional sustainable use of the sea. #SDG14

@Mr_Hancock_Uon@sdg14net To make it even more interesting, I found a video of a diver from another perspective. You could have students pretend they are the ones diving and seeing it through their own eyes. #SDG14 https://t.co/HTCXCNcYmT
I think #visual content like this video here is crucial when teaching + learning about #SDG14. To see the extent of #plasticpollution brings a sense of motivation to make change! @sdg14net The link below includes recent pollution news... #educ4750

@joewillisss Thanks Joe, I think visual aids can help put the issue into perspective. I found this website that has an infographic about our plastic problem. #SDG14 https://t.co/gfN1dEku0O
FISHING FOR PLASTIC?
This is a great visual resource to use in your teaching of #SDG14. It could lead into a rich discussion about what could happen if we don't take action now? What are the consequences? How can we make a difference?

@MissEddie_Educ This is a great idea! Making it localised and relevant to the community will make it even more engaging for the students. Perhaps they could do an excursion where they pick up rubbish from local parks and tally their finds to figure out their Top10 in the area?
@Miss_Jess_H I found a site that lists a range of activities to encourage recycling in the classroom. The one that stands out to me is the recycling rally where students can compete with other class's on who can recycle the most. Could be a good incentive! https://t.co/0JDF42K9s8
@joewillisss Great resource! @NatGeo shared various lesson ideas which would make engaging teaching and learning opportunities in regards to plastic pollution in our oceans https://t.co/AgyVAr5Zky
@RattrayTia I found some interesting #timelapse videos that could support this idea! Additionally, could you do a term-long experiment where you compare a plastic product to something #biodegradable in regards to decomposition?
https://t.co/Znt0UbwSXt
@RattrayTia What clean up solutions are you considering? Have you looked at the @Take3fortheSea movement? It has an online learning program where teachers are given FREE resources! Check out more info here https://t.co/fUP5OnFUDC
@RattrayTia I agree Tia, the 6 Thinking Hats will compliment the project in my unit as well. I found a proforma on @TwinklAustralia that allows students to fill in their ideas/thinking based on the hats!

@Miss_Gascoigne De Bono's 6 thinking hats will compliment the project in my unit nicely! It gives students specific roles within their learning to lead to #creativesolutions. @TwinklAustralia has #writing frames that allow students to plan out their thinking/ideas on the basis of the hats!
@mauger_dylan You could use them in the classroom or even get into contact with the local council to see if students could present them around the area aswell! This would be exciting for students and creates real life connections. Thanks for sharing :)
#TerraCycle will then sort, shred, + melt the items down into plastic pellets to manufacture new products such as garden beds, park benches and even #playgrounds. For every kg sent, collectors will earn $1 towards the Australian school or #charity of their choice @TerraCycle
I researched and found 'Writing Instruments Recycling Program'. It is AUS based encourages schools to collect waste of used pens, markers + other writing tools to be recycled. You get a free shipping label when you fill a box/bin! #SDG14#Educ4750

I saw this at Erina Fair shopping centre over the weekend and loved it! What is something schools can focus on? (obviously not coffee cups). Perhaps pens or markers? Let me know what you think! It could lead to a design project that links with Science&Tech KLA. #SDG14#Educ4750

Just found this video that @LandersCurtis shared. Added relevance to children as it is focused on kids themselves taking action!

LET'S BREAK FREE FROM PLASTIC
This video is a powerful form of communication to inform people about the detrimental impacts of #plasticpollution in our oceans.

@teacher12111767 I've never thought of doing this- what an awesome idea! What a fun, engaging and memorable lesson that would be. Is this something that is affordable for schools? Or would it be something students needed to pay for? Thanks for sharing!
