DAYBELL VERDICT: I’m told by court staff when everyone gets here they will read the verdict. We were told by MCSO that Daybell would be brought here to wait (so she should already be here), but family and others will have time to make their way to the court house. @abc15
DAYBELL DELIBERATIONS: While the jury is on lunch break, here’s @NickCiletti and my conversation from our 11 am show. Dozens of people are still in the waiting area to see if the jury reaches a verdict today. The Jury started at 10:30 am, and deliberated for an hour and a half. They will resume at 1:30, and when a verdict is reached @abc15 will start our streaming coverage (whenever that happens) ⬇️⬇️⬇️

This week, Tyron McAlpin filed a federal lawsuit against the city.
WHCA statement on WH announcement:
"This move tears at the independence of a free press in the United States. It suggests the government will choose the journalists who cover the president. In a free country, leaders must not be able to choose their own press corps.
"For generations, the working journalists elected to lead the White House Correspondents’ Association board have consistently expanded the WHCA’s membership and its pool rotations to facilitate the inclusion of new and emerging outlets.
"Since its founding in 1914, the WHCA has sought to ensure that the reporters, photographers, producers and technicians who actually do the work – 365 days of every year – decide amongst themselves how these rotations are operated, so as to ensure consistent professional standards and fairness in access on behalf of all readers, viewers and listeners.
"To be clear, the White House did not give the WHCA board a heads up or have any discussions about today’s announcements. But the WHCA will never stop advocating for comprehensive access, full transparency and the right of the American public to read, listen to and watch reports from the White House, delivered without fear or favor."
- Eugene Daniels, White House Correspondents' Association president
The WH has always handled credentials (hard passes and day passes) - NOT the WHCA.
There are many conservative-leaning outlets with seats, including Newsmax, Daily Caller, NYPost, Washington Examiner, FOX, WSJ, etc.
WHCA has assigned seats based on coverage factors such as regular staffing from outlets - crews covering the WH every day, sending staffing for pooled events etc.
There's a gap in public understanding of how WHCA works and what it does, but people would be shocked to learn how logistics-focused it really is.
This move does not give the power back to the people - it gives power to the White House. The WHCA is democratically elected by the full-time White House press corps.
WHCA has determined pools for decades because only representatives FROM our outlets can determine resources all those outlets have - such as staffing - in order to get the President's message out to the largest possible audience, no matter the day or hour.
