Never, evr be satisfied with yur current ability. GREAT requires self-critique, a pathological relentlessness, a passion to aim just beyond one's capability.
“Tell me the rules and I’ll follow them. Nobody follows them. And then every time something happens a lawsuit happens… END. THE. CHAOS.”
Louisville coach Pat Kelsey went off on the NCAA at an eligibility hearing
This is the annual winter reminder to hockey and basketball coaches. The best conditioning is a good practice. If you’re a basketball coach don’t finish with suicides, if you’re a hockey coach, don’t “bag them” at the end. Don’t be an “ injury creation dummy”. Thanks @ZEvenEsh
Unilateral Training Updates already has 350 views (basically overnight). Whether you like unilateral training, dislike unilateral training, or are on the fence, I think you'll like this. https://t.co/ZE5vhRUG0U
I think this article is again a “must read” if you coach lacrosse or soccer.
Yes, I know it’s a soccer article but, just say lacrosse every time you see the word soccer.
Your best injury prevention tool is timed sprinting. Start recording Fly 10’s ASAP.
Please pass this on to your favorite soccer coach or soccer parent.
I wrote this specifically for the sport of soccer. The fact that I was forced to organize, articulate, and distill FTC to a new world might make it relatable to all coaches.

Question for high school athletes. If all you do is go to camps and tournaments all summer to try and show how good you are, when are you training to get better?
More work is the solution, not more “exposure”.
One problem with posterior chain training for us is too many choices.
I love the “Nordic” idea but, start with iso holds not lowers.
Our cue is “ lean out just until you feel it”. Hold for 5, repeat x’s 3. That’s a set. Try the NordStick, cheap and easy @Cayla_barnes27
Shout out to all the college athletes going home for Thanksgiving Break who will finally be able to train change of direction & single leg strength again! Can’t wait to get back to work with all of you again!
@ZachDechant Though I prefer 150yd shuttles at the same 25yd distance ( I like 3 or 4), I think the 300yd shuttle can still be valuable. I think most coaches/teams screw up the rest horribly, do wayyyy to many of them, at the wrong time, and with terrible warmup.
Spring sport Championships are 💯% won in the summer. But that has absolutely nothing to do with summer leagues or club tournaments or school practices. Recovery, strength & conditioning, & focused skill dev’t win championships following a season. Play less train WAY WAY more.
It’s Way too much! It’s insanity. On top of actual “team tournaments” there are countless individual events-daughters team this summer reg for 7 team events +showcases-kids have FOMO has to 🛑 show less look better TOO much pressure to do everything-kids don’t have a summer
Follow up to yesterdays M-Th summer schedule tweet.
Absences went way down because athletes had a scheduled long weekend every weekend.
If youre done by Thursday at 12 you can leave then.
This also meant the “I have a tournament this weekend” excuse was gone.
This is a hard time for many college lacrosse freshman. Went from big fish to little fish. It’s supposed to be that way. The only way you will become a big fish again is with effort and attitude …it’s all you control!
Thinking of and praying for this young man and his family…
