@anniwithoutane @AfroChingona I'm not agreeing with that sentiment, but that's my take on why it gets said. Slavery, historical or modern, should be discussed, should be protested, and should be ended. The history and discussion of it shouldn't be limited to the transatlantic trade. It's happening now.

They tend to say it with more of a "get over it already" attitude. The rational being slavery has existed basically as long as humans have, so if you're free stop whining.

@ShaneBonnell74 @EdKrassen Canceling womens Healthcare is canceling womens rights. Women can die from pregnancy. Babies can be born with terrible abnormalities that cause them to suffer and die. 12 year olds can get pregnant by their uncles/fathers/pastors. Lots of sound reasons to abort, lots.
