From another country looking in,“free” healthcare in Canada seems ideal. But once patients are discharged from hospital, medications and more services are not covered (paid out of pocket). In an ideal world, the government would fund pharmacare and all medical services #PHARM4420
@Kmlarade Maybe if a tax increase was suggested for a short period of time, until the benefits of universal coverage could be seen, taxpayers would be more willing to allow these changes to be made. #PHARM4420
@ncpike21 So true! As Canadians we have pride in having free health care in comparison to our neighbors to the south but our services are lacking in contrast to the other countries that have full coverage. We need to start comparing ourselves and demand changes. #PHARM4420
Many medications can help reduce the risk of other illnesses and hospitalizations. Surgeries and hospital stays are much more expensive than drug coverage. Pharmacare could provide a more preventative approach which could help both the government and individuals'health #PHARM4420
Pharmacare is so important! Coverage of contraceptive medications is a step in the right direction. Hopefully other provinces will follow suit in the near future. https://t.co/EzoFeIodFa #PHARM4420
After seeing this overwhelming success they are opening 4 more clinics in other areas of the province! I hope to see this innovation in our province, especially after other Atlantic provinces have adopted this idea. Below is a list of services offered by the clinic. #PHARM4420
@hblair_stdnt This is great! With projects like these happening in other provinces hopefully it won't be long before we see them starting up in NL as well. I think they would be a great addition to relieve some of the stress from our current health care system situation.
Many people have misconceptions about pharmacists' capabilities and the services offered. Hopefully pharmacist led clinics can help shine some light on the full scope of the pharmacist and pave the way for more responsibilities (more prescribing rights, etc.) #PHARM4420
Pharmacist-led clinics are already starting to pop up in other provinces like NS and AB. How long do we expect before these clinics become a regular part of our health care layout? #PHARM4420
