A pharmacist can now extend prescriptions for up to a year.
Pink eye, shingles, UTIs, fungal infections are now something pharmacists can prescribe for directly, you don’t need to go to a doctor #nlpoli
NL government is expanding what conditions pharmacists can now assess and prescribe.
They can also extend existing prescriptions for longer
Until now if you wanted a prescription you’d have to pay yourself. It will now be covered my MCP #nlpoli
@TynskiNicole I was shocked to see the amount of services not covered under MCP! I hope to see improvements made to this list (by re-evaluating spending) and allocating more money towards these services so access is available to all patients in this province. #PHARM4420
@MtimmonsTimmons I agree Madison! I hope to see the federal government implement this service to improve access to all medications for all patients out of the hospital #PHARM4420
From another country looking in,“free” healthcare in Canada seems ideal. But once patients are discharged from hospital, medications and more services are not covered (paid out of pocket). In an ideal world, the government would fund pharmacare and all medical services #PHARM4420
@kldeer18 Great point Kim! Patients should have the same access to medications both in and out of the hospital without worrying about the financial burden. National pharmacare would definitely help many patients get access to costly medications #PHARM4420
@Michael_Lahey10 I agree Michael! Our scope of practice is continuing to expand, but to be able to provide the most effective care for our patients, we need to be able to practice to our full scope. I am looking forward to when our scope in NL includes ordering/interpreting lab values #PHARM4420
@amwatkins25 I agree Alyssa. It would be fantastic to have more accessible care through pharmacist led clinics for women without a doctor, such as UTI and birth control prescribing. Pharmacist led clinics are the way forward in helping our strained health care system! #PHARM4420
Pharmacist led clinics are transforming the meaning of accessible health care. Pharmacists in NS can provide assessments and medications to patients without a doctor. The best part? Clinics are free with NS health card! I hope to see these clinics open in NL soon #PHARM4420
@RobynColes8 I agree! Spending time with my family and friends definitely helps me feel less stressed and improves my mood as well. It is necessary to set aside some time in our busy schedules to relax and have fun so we can maintain good mental health and wellbeing. #HKR1000
The length of my day influences my mood. A long day typically means a irritable mood. To improve my mood/wellbeing, I do a workout or yoga. This leaves me feeling refreshed with a positive mindset to tackle the evening. These strategies help me shift into a good mood. #HKR1000
@annikalindstr0m I agree! Often times products are misleading-they show the nutrients that are in high quantities on the front. It is important to carefully read the nutrition label to ensure what you’re eating doesn’t contain too much of one item, and that it is beneficial to your diet. #hkr1000
This article talks about the importance of eating a balanced diet. It is important to consume food from all four food groups. By doing this, you are giving your body the nutrients it needs and are lowering the risk of developing diseases!

@JFishmun I couldn’t agree more! Being an active volunteer contributes to the wellbeing of both you and your community. Volunteering is a great way to give back and help out around your community. #HKR1000
I think my class is very aware about their health and wellness and take responsibility in ensuring they put their wellness as a priority. Particularly interesting to me, a lot of people upkeep with regular medical checkups (70%) and eat healthy (71.5%). #HKR1000
