From Nate Cohn’s new article on polling accuracy.
Basically, pollsters are terrified of being wrong again, so they’re flat-out ignoring “very blue” results.
“As a result, pollsters are more willing to take steps to produce more Republican-leaning results.”
The more I think about it, the more that this is just an AMAZING admission from the NYT pollster.
He's saying that his people are so terrified of being wrong that they're literally stoking fires of a Trump victory... which will fuel Trump's claims that the vote was rigged.
From @TheAthletic: The Los Angeles Dodgers will face the New York Mets in the National League Championship Series after defeating the San Diego Padres, a longtime rival. https://t.co/KM26aznpo0
An inconvenient truth for @MSNBC: the NY Times's normalizing Trump coverage is very much the election story. If you daily book Times reporters/pundits, Mara Gay, Michelle Goldberg, Susan Craig, Michael Schmidt, Jeremy Peters, shouldn't you ask about their paper being under fire?
There will be no Trump pivot. There will be no new tone. He is who he is. Pundits claiming otherwise at this late date are either absurdly credulous or deliberately carrying his water.
