We previously discussed the wisdom of the monument/ballroom obsessions. Vanity projects are very "own-the-libs" red meat but it's not as fun to laugh at when you are paying 30-40% more at the pump.
Unfortunately for Republicans, the situation is very easy to describe:
1. Trump won a cost-of-living election
2. Then he publicly announced a plan to raise the price of imports
3. Then he even-more-publicly started a war that raised the price of gas
4. Meanwhile, he got rich on crypto scams, while engaging in downright Pynchonian misadventures with the reflecting pool and ballroom, which sent the unmistakeable signal that "I care more about random bullshit than America's money problems ... and also I'm not even good at executing on the random bullshit"

We recorded last night. Out soon. In the meantime, for an idea of our topics, take a look at this op-ed which we discussed last evening

@wethefifth So many stories like this...spent 4 nights in an eye trauma center in London with hourly care...total cost was approx $1K. The demonization of socialized HC is probably overblown.
I was driving on the LIE in Queens last month around midday and saw a city crew close the highway for about 90 seconds in order to fix a pothole -- not something I'd ever seen before, and I was amazed how fast it was
@NateSilver538 Agree. The people just don't care about Epstein that much. And this will have real effects on their pocketbooks as long as it's being prosecuted. If he did it to distract, it's an own goal.
We like @GovAndyBeshear, mostly due to being a @VanderbiltU alum, but if he thinks these guys went to law school, he's seriously overestimating their qualifications.
Gov. Andy Beshear on ICE and CBP: "They are not following our Constitution and giving people their rights. They have a memo that says they can just barge into someone's house without a warrant — I guess they missed the day they taught law in law school."
Quick 🧵 on an insane story:
Yesterday I reported that Lue Moua, a migrant DHS has been insisting is "at large" in Minneapolis--one of the guys they broke down ChongLy Thao's door supposedly looking for--has actually been in state prison since a felony conviction in 2024.
One more comment from Howell: "Oh yeah, we create instability in Venezuela and the same time we've revoked temp protected status for Venezuelans seeking refuge. Bravo."
We recorded last night and will have it out shortly. Can probably guess the topic. Until then, here's an article about a possible corollary and cautionary tale to current events
