Electrifying all energy & providing the electricity with 100% #WindWaterSolar reduces energy needs by 54.4% across 149 countries for 5 reasons.
If we don't do this, we must meet 18.9 TW, not 8.9 TW, of demand, lose millions of lives/yr & pay 2.5x the energy cost.

Money has no intrinsic value. Sam Bankman-Fried, Elizabeth Holmes and Bernie Madoff were extremely capable storytellers, unfortunately. What would it mean for human beings to live in a world where most of the stories, melodies, images, laws, policies and tools are shaped by a non-human, alien intelligence – which knows how to exploit our weaknesses, biases and addictions with super-human efficiency? And also knows how to form deep, intimate relationships with human beings?

Almost 52% of Germany' gross electricity consumption will have been produced by renewable electricity in 2023.
An increase of 5% in one year
First time over 50%
Goal of 80% by 2030; 100% by 2035

In 1985, Carl Sagan told Congress that continuing to burn fossil fuels will increase global temperature, cause climate change, melt glaciers and ice sheets, and cause sea level rise. Imagine if we had listened to him them.
No time to wait. #ActOnClimate#climate
A compilation of Usain Bolt being kind to others. Widely regarded as one of the greatest sprinters of all time, Usain Bolt’s ability to stay humble while stacking up numerous historic accomplishments is commendable. Some of his most notable achievements include:
1.Multiple Olympic Gold Medals: Bolt is an eight-time Olympic gold medalist, winning gold in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay events at three consecutive Olympic Games (Beijing 2008, London 2012, and Rio 2016).
https://t.co/E6uXBTOkiM Records: Bolt holds the world records in the 100m (9.58 seconds) and 200m (19.19 seconds), both set at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin.
https://t.co/rdNZQLcrIv Championships Success: Bolt has won a total of 11 gold medals at the World Championships in Athletics, including three consecutive 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay titles in 2009, 2013, and 2015.
4.Triple-Triple: Bolt is the only athlete to win the "triple-triple," which refers to three gold medals in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay events at three consecutive Olympic Games (Beijing 2008, London 2012, and Rio 2016).
https://t.co/ZfsuhiDuQ0's Fastest Man: Bolt has consistently been recognized as the world's fastest man, with his record-breaking performances and dominance in the sprinting events.
These accomplishments along with his humility have solidified Usain Bolt's status as a legendary figure in the world of athletics and a true icon of the sport.
New utility solar PV is ~2.5-5 cents/kWh, but the added cost of keeping Diablo Canyon open costs ~9.4 cents/kWh:
@PGE4Me admits the cost of keeping DC nuclear open another 5 y (until 2030) is $8.1 billion, which works out to 9.4 cents/kWh

@mzjacobson But really the DAC death-knell is simpler still isn’t it? - the point you always make - you are robbing co2 savings to pay for (inefficient!) co2 savings.
Thus even a single joule of energy allocated to DAC is a waste.
If we allocated EIGHT TIMES all the renewable energy in the world to direct air carbon capture (DAC), we still WOULDN’T REDUCE CO2 BY A SINGLE MOLECULE; we would ONLY just be keeping up with new emissions.
THAT'S why DAC is not our future

@mzjacobson … to which we must add energy and carbon costs for building tens of thousands of carbon capture plants in the first place! It must become a truly, monumental figure!
@KarstenCapion Luckily the heat pump is not adding to the load it is *replacing* one load with a more efficient load, so net result is reduction in both energy use AND carbon 👍👍
Scientists have confirmed 2023 will be the hottest year on record, with the official declaration from climate change service Copernicus made with a month to spare. https://t.co/hhfGercCgo
"There's only one type of carbon capture that helps anybody, and that's a tree"
"By using renewable electricity to run carbon capture equipment (and not replace a fossil source), we're increasing carbon dioxide by a huge amount."
