Day 1 of the KSDE Summer Academy in Manhattan is complete. @jerijopowers_ & I had a great time discussing language and literacy, dyslexia, assessment, and instructional implications. Day 2 will be @haileyhawk & @jmcrenglish as they discuss text sets/vocabulary. @KSDEtchrleaders
@CatholicArena Watering down the Faith and the Sacraments. We all sin, we all need to confess those sins rather than excuse or normalize our sinfulness in order to feel better about our fallen selves . It’s just wrong. The CCC states what is needed for the sacrament of penance. Read it, folks.
Although I’m an educational administrator/curriculum director, I come from a family of nurses and healthcare professionals. My little brother, (a CRNA to be) has been working with COVID patients this week. Keep him, and all healthcare workers in your thoughts. #stayhome
As an administrator, my favorite part of the day is getting staff together to discuss what is working with our CL plan, celebrate student learning, discuss concerns & ideas moving forward, & watching our staff grow professionally #kansanscan#ContinuousLearning @KsCommissioner
When we think of taking care of social-emotional needs of students at this time, PLEASE don't take that to mean they should be doing Second-Step lessons at home. Check-in with students and families. Listen and encourage. Thanks @PovertyEdge for the reminder!
Thank you to @KsCommissioner @GovLauraKelly and the CL Task Force as they guide KS educators through unchartered waters. As we continue to wrap our minds around what K-12 Ed will look like for FY20, we will rise to the challenge and do what is best for our kids! #WeGotThis
As I continue to wrap my mind around what K-12 Ed will look like this year, I am impressed with our staff, who continue to move forward to do the best we can for our students in light of our circumstances. I have faith in them. Just see what we will accomplish. #TeachersAreHeroes
@TrooperBenKHP As a mom of a 14 year old I preach this to her all the time. Last weekend (after some debate) I finally called in someone who was all over the road, and when I passed their head was down and their phone was in their hand. Should we do this? I’m so tired of seeing it all.the.time
Today #WeRemember the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and mourn those murdered within its fences. America will not rest in combating Holocaust denial; anti-Semitism; and all forms of hatred, racism, and discrimination. #NeverAgain
@saratruebridge A7: In a district where we are going from a traditional role of education to a “redesigned” one where Creativity, relationships, and engagement are all goals we have to make our system “better”. Tomorrow I will appreciate the process in action. #resiliencechat
@saratruebridge A5: I think in many ways, Traditional Ed attempts to uniformly shape kids that “fit” into a universal way of thinking or doing, when really our students come in all shapes that WE should adapt to their style of learning. This allows for creativity! #resiliencechat
@rilmcknight Self assessment and the power of reflection is so important. For the student AND the educator...you can shape future lessons and learning from what you take away from the experience! #resiliencechat
