President Nelson Chamisa mourns the murder of his supporter Mr Kelvin Bhonzo

President Nelson Chamisa has expressed profound grief and shock following the death of his supporter Mr Kelvin Bhonzo, a 41-year-old citizen volunteer from Chitungwiza North, Ward 25, who succumbed to his injuries on 26th July 2026 after weeks of hospitalisation.

Below is President Chamisa's message he posted on his different social media platforms such as Chamisa News Channel(CNC):

"POLITICALLY MOTIVATED MURDER.. It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of a Citizen Volunteer, Kelvin Bhonzo (41) of Chitungwiza North, Ward 25, who died yesterday 26 July 2026 after weeks in hospital following a politically motivated attack on 14 June 2026. Political violence in Zimbabwe is an unacceptable scourge that must be stopped. According to reports, he was attacked on 14 June 2026 while returning home from Makoni Shopping Centre, where he had been watching football. It is alleged that the attackers, identified by witnesses as ZPF supporters, assaulted him with machetes and bricks, accusing him of supporting the rejection of CAB 3. He was initially admitted to Chitungwiza Hospital before being transferred to Citimed Hospital for further treatment. Despite weeks of medical care, he sadly succumbed to his injuries on 26 July 2026. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all citizens mourning this tragic loss. May his soul rest in eternal peace. RIP Citizens Hero!"

Mr Bhonzo was brutally attacked on 14th June 2026 while returning home from Makoni Shopping Centre in Harare, where he had been watching football with friends. According to eyewitness accounts, his assailants, identified as supporters of the ruling Zanu PF party, set upon him with bricks and machetes, accusing him of opposing the controversial Constitutional Amendment Bill No.3. His only transgression, was his public stance against the proposed amendments, which critics argue are designed to extend Emmerson Mnangagwa's tenure and consolidate ruling party power. The attack left Mr Bhonzo with severe head trauma and deep lacerations, requiring immediate medical attention. He was initially rushed to Chitungwiza Hospital before being transferred to Citimed Hospital for more advanced care, but despite weeks of dedicated medical treatment, he tragically succumbed to his wounds.

President Chamisa conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the Bhonzo family and the nation at large through his social media platforms, including his Chamisa News Channel, describing the deceased as a "Citizens Hero" in recognition of his courage and commitment to democratic principles. The President's message underscored the devastating human cost of political violence, which has become an increasingly disturbing feature of Zimbabwe's political landscape. He noted that he and other concerned citizens had previously extended material support to Mr Bhonzo and his family during his illness, sending groceries and financial assistance to alleviate their suffering. The above video recording, captured by former Senator Vongai Tome, shows a visibly frail Mr Bhonzo expressing his heartfelt gratitude to President Chamisa for the solidarity shown to him and his family during his darkest hours. That poignant footage now serves as a haunting reminder of a life cut short by senseless brutality and political intolerance.

The failure to arrest the perpetrators has sparked widespread outrage and renewed accusations of selective justice against the Zimbabwe Republic Police. Despite clear eyewitness testimony and mounting public pressure, those responsible for Mr Bhonzo's murder remain at large, fueling perceptions of impunity for Zanu PF's party supporters. This pattern of inaction is not without precedent, as demonstrated by the case of Luckmore Tinashe Gapa, a well-known Zanu PF member who was captured on camera stealing the mobile phone of human rights lawyer Doug Coltart during a public hearing on the constitutional amendment. Despite the existence of video evidence and a formal police complaint, Gapa has faced no legal consequences, reinforcing the belief among many Zimbabweans that the law is applied selectively based on political affiliation. Such incidents have led civil society organisations and human rights groups to condemn the authorities for their failure to uphold the rule of law and protect citizens from politically motivated violence.

The Constitutional Amendment Bill No.3 has been a source of intense national debate and polarisation, with public hearings across the country devolving into scenes of chaos and intimidation. Critics contend that the bill seeks to remove term limits and concentrate power in the executive, effectively undermining the democratic gains made since the 2017 transition. The Zimbabwe Peace Project has documented numerous cases of violence and coercion during the consultation process, with ruling party supporters allegedly deployed to silence dissent and intimidate opponents. Mr Bhonzo's murder represents the most extreme manifestation of this climate of fear, where citizens are punished not for crimes but for exercising their constitutional right to freedom of expression and political participation. Funeral arrangements for the deceased are expected to be communicated in due course, and calls for justice are growing louder by the hour.

There’s a reason he has won two Presidential elections.
In fact, the only currently living Zimbabwean to have won a Presidential Election… 🤷🏾‍♂️

A tenacious crusader who does not shirk from the enormity of starting a movement from scratch.

He BUILDS, what others only have the ability to try to hijack.
A champion with the courage to risk it all, in pursuit of the vision of that shining city on the hill 🌟 – that which is the New Great Zimbabwe. 🇿🇼

To those furnished with ire and envy, who find themselves in his shadow despite ALL their efforts - rather than attack him because his skills, ability and earned influence frustrate you, why not simply try to do BETTER so that you can attract people who believe in your vision. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Do the hard work of building something from the ground up, as he did.

That painstaking process breeds inspired followers of your vision. 👍🏾
Don’t take shortcuts.

And remember this: you cannot HATE your way into the People’s hearts.

You cannot lie and ridicule your way into people's hearts.

IT WAS ALL ABOUT ED POWER GAMES…ED worked with Tshabangu to engineer illegal recalls that ultimately handed ZANU-PF a fraudulent two-thirds parliamentary majority, in clear violation of both the law and democratic principles.
Unfortunately, when the recalls began, many failed to recognize that this was part of a long-planned strategy orchestrated by ED. It was never about the claims that the CCC lacked a constitution or formal structures. In Zimbabwe you can not submit party candidates to ZEC without a party constitution. Parliament and Mudenda were in possession of CCC constitution but chose to ignore it on instructions from his Zpf Boss. Those no constitution and nil structures narratives were merely a smokescreen.
Some individuals, driven by their disagreements with Nelson Chamisa, celebrated the recalls, unaware that they were in fact celebrating the erosion of democracy and the weakening of our nation. The foundation for the current constitutional amendment agenda was laid in 2023 through those engineered and unlawful recalls.
However, all is not lost. The real struggle lies ahead. The task before us is to continue fighting for a Citizens' Government—one that reflects the true will and aspirations of the people of Zimbabwe. The future of our country depends on the determination of its citizens to defend voice, agency and fundamental rights .

In mid-April 2008, in Mudzi district, Mashonaland East, Denias Dombo heard the engine before he saw the flames.

By the time he reached his kraal, his brick-and-thatch home was already burning. Two men sped off in a ZANU-PF vehicle, youths in party T-shirts packed in the back.

Everything he owned — his beds, blankets, clothes, and furniture — was gone.

That night, Dombo walked 15 miles to Kotwa police station to report it. He gave his statement, then walked the 15 miles back.

The police arrived, took a cursory look at the burnt house, and left.

Twenty minutes after they drove off, the attack began.

Around 30 ZANU-PF youths flooded into the kraal, armed with iron bars, heavy sticks and stones. They smashed into the kitchen where his family had barricaded themselves and began stoning them inside.

Dombo made a decision.

He told his wife Patricia, carrying their four-month-old son, and his daughters: when he ran out, they must run and hide.

He stepped outside.

They swarmed him.

They beat him with iron bars and sticks, forcing him to shout, “Pamberi na Mugabe. Pamberi ne ZANU-PF. Pasi na Tsvangirai,” as they struck him again and again. He raised his arms to shield his head and felt the bones crack.

“My blood was rushing out everywhere.”

They left him only when the ringleader checked his watch and said they would return to finish him.

Dombo tried to stand.

He fell.

He tried again.

Then he looked down.

His leg was broken. The jagged bone was protruding through the skin. One arm hung shattered.

He was going nowhere.

Alone, bleeding beside the ashes of his home, certain they would return, he twisted a wire into a noose and tried to hang himself.

The wire snapped.

He hit the ground.

Then a small, terrified voice pierced the silence.

“Baba… Baba… simukai… please wake up.”

His nine-year-old daughter, shaking, kneeling beside him, had come back.

He opened his eyes.

He was still alive.

ZANU-PF turned Zimbabwe’s 2008 elections into torture, fire and attempted murder.

Denias Dombo deserves justice.

Zimbabweans deserve justice.

After testifying about her husband’s death, Mavis Tapera told the court in the Mberengwa West case about her own assault and subsequent torture on 4 July 2000. Assailants led by ‘Biggie’ Chitoro, a prominent member of Zanu (PF), ordered her out of her house at night and used a knife to cut off her petticoat. At this point she was clad in only her pants. They began to assault her with logs, concentrating on the buttocks. She testified that one of the assailants asked her if MDC President Morgan Tsvangirai bought her the pants she was wearing. Her attackers then forced an iron rod into her genitals and ordered her to imitate sexual positions. Breaking down numerous times on the witness stand, Tapera testified that the ordeal was extremely painful but she was forced to continue. She then was taken to Texas Farm with her husband but was returned the same night. When her assailants returned her to her homestead, they urinated into a cup and forced her to drink from it. She told the court that one of the assailants threatened to force her to eat his stool if she refused.

For two nights, they stripped them, beat them with an iron bar, and burned them with melting plastic. Finos died an excruciating death. James crawled through the bush, flayed and burned, barely alive. Ordinary Zimbabweans were tortured, brutalised and killed by ZANU-PF terror.

Here Are The 4 Steps That Are Likely To Lead To ED's "Waterloo"!

1. Tshabangu fronted recalls & by-elections secure a two-thirds Parliamentary majority illegally in December 2023. ED then shifts his focus to his party;

2. Power consolidation attempt in ZANU PF - starting from 2024 - steps to crush internal opposition start in earnest - either sensational trumped up charges or "convenient mysterious events" targeting the most credible threats or heightened / staged events clamouring for life presidency from party Youths or other fringe party affiliated bodies leading to a "command vote" or affirmation;

3. Sometime in mid to end of 2024 or early 2025 - attempts to use the two thirds majority to amend the Constitution. It's likely that a way will be found to avoid a Referendum, which will be considered too risky. Malaba is likely to play a key role;

4. Sometime in 2026 or 27 but ahead of the 2028 election, attempts to formally secure the ZANU PF presidential candidacy;

5. ED will start encountering serious headwinds from stage 2 onwards. Stage 1 is as good as a done deal. Every step he takes from Stage 2 onwards is fraught with danger or risk of the highest kind with his odds of making it narrowing or shrinking rapidly. It's all high octane stuff!

A MEMO TO Morgan Tsvangirai
Dear Save,
Pakuru, as they were determined against you, so they are against me—and against all of us.

But they have grown more rabid, more brazen, and entirely rogue. As you know, they beat us, falsely accused us, wrongfully imprisoned us, vilified and demonized us.

We remain banned from ZBC television and radio. We are shut out of The Herald, The Chronicle, The Sunday Mail, and The Sunday News. We are treated as prohibited persons in our own country.

They continue to rig elections, enforce command voting, and unleash violence in rural communities. Food remains a political weapon. Citizens are punished for holding different views.

A young man, Madzibaba Veshanduko, sits in prison because of his politics.
They have hired and funded trolls to spread lies and misinformation, seeking to tarnish my name. Their machinery of propaganda is well-resourced and relentless.

They have paid some among us to sow division and undermine leadership. Millions have been poured into bribery and manipulation—more, it seems, than is allocated to health or education.

Through lawfare, they seized the party we founded together. They took the headquarters, the provincial offices, and the party’s finances.

Now they scheme to abuse the courts yet again, to harass and humiliate me personally. As in your time, they single out individuals they fear most. They prefer a compliant, false opposition.

They recalled and punished Members of Parliament and councillors they deemed truly committed to the cause.

Each time I go out to meet with the citizens, it’s difficult, it’s painful and it’s a sacrifice. When I went out for a citizens outreach into the rural areas, and across the country, I had a Todii’s time.

There have been repeated attempts on my life—near-fatal incidents in Mutare, Nyanga, Nemanwa, and at the Chivi turnoff; narrow escapes in Chiredzi and Zaka; and the Hurungwe assassination plot I survived.

In Binga, I walked for kilometres to evade militia roadblocks. In Guruve, I rode a motorbike to slip past barricades. In Zaka, I lay hidden in the boot of a car while they sang Chimurenga songs at their checkpoints.

Now they go further still—seeking to shred what remains of the Constitution. They propose to end the direct election of the President, to unlawfully extend terms, and to impose unilateral, anti-citizen electoral changes.

At the very least, even Robert Mugabe would submit fundamental changes to a referendum. This leadership appears determined to avoid the people altogether.

As we did before, we will not compromise away the will of the citizens. As you taught us: even if persecuted, never retaliate in hatred; never betray the people. Hatiputsi Sungano. Tiri pachirangano.

I may not have a party, party headquarters, or party colours. But we have the citizens on our side. We have history on our side . We have Africa on our side. We have the solidarity of the oppressed around the world on our side. And above all, we have faith.And God is in it.

Change will come. Victory is certain. Zimbabwe will be transformed country. We will be a happy and prosperous nation forever. WE THE CITIZENS!! Citizens united can never be defeated. Citizens united can change a country anytime!
