There are multiple laws which mean you could be fined £200, have 6 points on your licence or even put someone else at risk.

Calvin Buckley's partner Frankie Hough and their unborn child were killed by a dangerous driver who was filming himself at 123 mph.

Calvin and Frankie's dad Frank are now backing a campaign highlighting the dangers of driving and using phones.

They tell ＠susannareid100 and @edballs how they want to educate children in school 'so they grow up with a better mindset and be more respectful about the things they do.'

A crowd of us gathered at @Nat_Mem_Arb (which is beautifully serene) for the final mile of the @RoadPeace Challenge.

Forget-me-not Families Uniting and others were at the centre of the gathering with @SharronHuddles2 calling for action on a British #GDL as “enough is enough.” @Beccysays and @owe65332 reminded us of the devastating impact on their lives and on many other families of young driver crashes. And @ian_m_greenwood reminded us of the importance of three dates:
1937 - the #HouseofCommons first debated the risk of young driver crashes: they have known for 87 years!
1993 - a British #GDL was first proposed in the #HouseofCommons: they have known for 31 years!
2024 - a hope that national politicians will listen and implement a British #GDL - are you listening @RishiSunak @Keir_Starmer @Mark_J_Harper @LouHaigh ?

5 people are killed and 75 are seriously injured on Britain’s, on average, each day.

Since 5 September 2023 @Bill_Esterson has been Shadow Minister for roads, including road safety. Since early October (can’t see older tweets), on an extremely busy @X account, he has managed no tweets on road safety (apologies if I missed stuff).

The account shows wide and varied interests, and inevitably mainly contains @UKLabour central content and electioneering. His pets feature and he is keen on rail and EVs, and I was stuck by these two tweets (@LouHaigh) on the cost of driving and separate ones on the cost of insurance.

But, nothing on the number of road deaths or serious injuries or on the @UKLabour plan to address this problem and release capacity from the #NHS @wesstreeting

Even though only a single data source, what message does this give about the priority afforded by @Keir_Starmer ?

Good work catching him but yet again the justice system lets us down. How is that any sort of deterrent for risking peoples lives. A ban, a fine and a suspended sentence. Why not let him serve his time in prison ? He will be back at it again soon.

Tragically these data @WHO are not new. In Britain, 265 children were killed on Britain’s roads over the past 5 years. Children = 16 years & under! Even more shockingly, 57 of them were the driver or rider (& 5 under 10 years). @GuyOpperman @Mark_J_Harper Whete is your strategy?
