Italian Astronomer @NorditaSweden in Stockholm. Passionate about stars going boom in the Universe. Happily married and father of two wonderful daughters.
[Paper day] We show how polarimetry of future @LIGO@ego_virgo Black Hole - Neutron Star mergers will constrain the configuration and composition of the material ejected in these systems https://t.co/B6pkswTeO1
Really excited to share mine and @DScol’s newest paper "It's Dust: Solving the Mysteries of the Intrinsic Scatter and Host-Galaxy Dependence of Standardized Type Ia Supernova Brightnesses" https://t.co/bQxPzsf39I @astrobites@drbecky_ Our alternate title was...
I'm turning 50, come join me for a glass, a song, and a story this Tuesday April 21st at 9pm Irish Time (4pm ET/1pm PT) on my Instagram @thegingerman222
Paper day! https://t.co/IeRNxMQU3N A study led by Ana Sagues-Carracedo at @TheOKC, exploring the sensitivity of ongoing surveys to search for kilonovae, proposing ways to optimise future searches and providing explanations for the lack of detections in the @LIGO@ego_virgo O3 run
Paper day #2 Led by amazing Tim Dietrich, a paper combining @LIGO GW data, kilonovae, NICER and radio observations of neutron stars and chiral effective field theory to place constraints on the supranuclear equation of state and the Hubble constant! #multimessenger
Paper day #1 We predict polarization signatures from the interaction between Type Iax supernova ejecta and a non-degenerate companion star. Clear imprint at blue optical wavelengths. Need for more polarimetry of Type Iax supernovae to test this scenario!
@Sydonahi @AcademicChatter You mean the one in March on polarimetry? Unfortunately not. I suppose we will meet somewhere else then. Congrats again on the invited talk!
@Sydonahi @AcademicChatter Congrats, well deserved! Is this the one in Lecco, Italy? I'll be going to that one as well, so we might meet in person for the first the time!
Really impressed by new ZTF papers by Adam Miller, Mattia Bulla et al. (https://t.co/Eg322ch2sL, https://t.co/nHCgV4UhtK) on early-time SNIa light-curve behavior. Very cool results, and not obvious LSST will be able to do nearly as well on this.
New @ztfsurvey papers led by Adam Miller (https://t.co/ULMs3Diykd) and myself (https://t.co/NJUyxhBIdo) on a large sample of Type Ia supernovae discovered within a few days from explosion and with exquisite light curves. Check these out!!
