Week 45 wrap.
Today I rest and enjoy moving into my updated metabolic home.
I'm 8 scale lbs away from my original 170 lbs loss goal with 7 weeks to go.
When I consider that I'm only 38 scale lbs away from reaching what I was 5 decades ago, it's almost hard to believe in a way.
I feel so good now at almost 69 years old, it blows my mind, in a good way of course LOL
TCR saved my life!

I transitioned to a TCR lifestyle 10.5 months ago. I feel better now at 69 than I did in my 30s.
Not only have I have lost a lot of fat, all of my blood labs are excellent, my blood pressure has normalized and I take ZERO meds now.
I do some kind of physical movement every day. Walking, lifting, cycling, aquatics exercises, etc.
I do sauna 5 to 6 days a week as well. High-heat sauna therapy flushes the body with oxygen-rich blood, which relieves joint pain, accelerates muscle tissue repair, and triggers a profound relaxation response that lowers systemic stress.
I feel like a million bucks!
Dr. David Unwin says:
"Every meal can be an opportunity, or it could be a threat."
I heard him say that recently on a podcast.
It really struck a chord with me.
This is especially true when we I get out of my controlled food environment and am faced with a plethora of food and drinks which pose a threat to me.
Vigilance against that threat is a part of the process.
👀 wide open!
Here's Dr. Unwin's podcast interview.

Yesterday I had my wife help me get some of my measurements. My waistline and scale weight were the only 2 starting references I had 10 months ago.
The weight on a scale doesn't always tell the whole story.
Since starting a ketogenic lifestyle on July 29th of 2025, I have without a doubt improved my metabolic health in every measurable way.
The numbers have been staggering to me honestly.
I was blown away yesterday when I saw that my waistline circumference has reduced by 16 inches in 44 weeks!
LFG! 🔥💪

@hjluks I was on a cane for almost 1 year due to a knee injury. In January I joined the local YMCA and started sauna & pool walking, stretching and bending. I was off the cane in 6 days!
@BrianWiley_@on_running@brooksrunning I just ordered these Astral TR1 Mesh 2.0
My sons bought me a nice pair of Hokas for my birthday in September. However, I really don't like the elevated heel. It makes me feel like I'm walking on stilts 😅
Amy, to be honest, I've not encountered many obstacles in the past 10 months. Oh, a few here and there, but nothing major. Especially when I contrast my perspective of where I was just 10 months ago.
The most impacting part of my experience thus far has been quieting my body's constant glucose/insulin spike via carbohydrate reduction.
It's what provided the key to unlock the door, and really is what is doing the bulk of heavy lifting for me.
That said, I don't treat sugar and ultra-processed foods as my source of comfort anymore.
They are not my friends. They are my enemies. I remember very clearly what that way of eating did to me.
It was killing me...
The same as if I were using white drugs or alcohol to the point of addiction.
10 months ago today — July 29, 2025 — I started the TCR lifestyle at 420 lbs.
I was in constant pain, stuck on a cane, and completely trapped in food addiction. It felt like I had fallen into a pit so deep I would never climb out.
Yesterday, while exercising, I heard Joe Bonamassa’s live performance of Sloe Gin from Royal Albert Hall in South Kensington, London. Every single line hit me right in the chest. Especially:
“May Day, May Day… I’ve been shot down over stormy seas.”
That was me. Crashed. Sinking. Sending out distress calls while barely staying afloat. Addicted to my own Sloe Gin.
Today, exactly 10 months later, I’m 152.5 lbs lighter. I’m off blood pressure meds. My resting heart rate is way down. I move freely. I sleep well. I lift weights. I bike. I hike. I feel fantastic.
The pit was real. The climb was hard at times. But I’m out. And I’m never going back.
Thankful. Grateful. And still moving forward.
LFG! ❣️
I've included a link to the performance by Bonamassa I mentioned in case anyone is interested.
