Eventually, the introduction of native rollups will allow Layer 2 solutions to inherit the full security of Ethereum itself, forming a unified and scalable blockchain ecosystem.

Ethereum is entering the "gigagas" era, aiming for 10,000 TPS on Layer 1 using zkEVMs and ZK-proofs, letting validators verify instead of reprocessing transactions.

Excellent article about how zkVMs + real-time proving will scale Ethereum L1 and help it achieve 10,000 TPS.

The renewed focus on L1 scaling is strategic, given the resurgence of the Ethereum narrative amongst institutions.

Roadmap includes realtime proving, where proofs for each block are generated within the 12 sec block time, enabling continuous increases in the gas limit. With contributions from projects like Succinct and Linea, Ethereum plans to reach 2,000 TPS by 2026 and 10,000 TPS by 2031
