BRILLIANT!
Give Frederick Joshua Mpanga his flowers!
⚖️🇺🇬🌟👏🏽
I set aside some time to watch Mr. Mpanga display a cool, calm, and collected demeanour with a wise, tactful, straightforward, and firmly professional approach during his masterful cross-examination of the Chief State Attorney/Prosecutor Joseph Kyomuhendo.
Mr. Mpanga is truly an exceptional legal mind. As a partner at AF Mpanga Advocates (@AFMpangaUG) and Head of the firm’s Intellectual Property & Real Estate departments, he showed exactly why he’s one of #Uganda’s top advocates. He was prepared, precise, and always one step ahead.
A textbook masterclass in cross-examination. Law students (and practising lawyers) should watch and learn.

I just read the Sovereignty Bill expecting a framework that squarely targets external threats, clear provisions to hold foreign actors accountable in cases of interference, economic sabotage, covert influence, or espionage. In my mind, it would read like a modern shield......precise, outward-facing, and built to protect Uganda from the kinds of pressures we’ve seen play out in other countries, take Venezuella for example when the US picked up their president, and they were found without a law to interpret such a scenario, I thought we were reacting to such and other related cases
After reading it, I was mortified. Most parts feel like they lean inward, with the potential to affect the very citizens the law is supposed to protect. That said, I don’t think the bill should be dismissed. The intention of strengthening Uganda’s sovereignty is necessary, timely, and worth backing. The global landscape is shifting, and countries that fail to legally define and defend their sovereignty risk being shaped by external forces they don’t control....
So I support the bill in principle, but it needs refinement to fully align with that purpose
First, it should clearly prioritize external accountability. The strongest version of this law would directly address foreign interference, whether through intelligence activities, economic manipulation, or coordinated influence campaigns rather than appearing to cast a wide net internally
Second, definitions need tightening. Terms like “foreign actor,” “interference,” or “threat to sovereignty” must be precise and unambiguous, so the law can not be stretched beyond its original intent....
Third, there should be explicit safeguards for Ugandans, including those in the diaspora. Sovereignty should unite us (the citizens), not create uncertainty about our status or rights....
Fourth, the bill would benefit from strong oversight mechanisms, independent review processes, judicial checks, or parliamentary scrutiny to ensure enforcement remains accountable and not be misused. Many good bills have been tabled but meddled with unreasonable clauses that end up being mitigated in courts, some good things get scrapped too not forgetting the time, money wasted, and the lives such bad clauses put in dangers of convictions.
Finally, even the framing and title could better reflect its purpose. If this is about defending Uganda from external disruption, then that clarity should come through immediately.
In short, the foundation is important, and I support the direction. But for it to truly serve Uganda, the bill must shift from something that risks constraining internally to something that confidently protects externally......firm, focused, and fair
@nwscug Good Morning. Would like to know why am being charged Service Charge and VAT on your water bills yet I have spent 6 months without having water.
Can I have the contact number and name of the Branch Manager Mattugga
@emeka_ug A certain MUBS lecturer tore into pieces a paper of one of the students during the exam due to copying and directed him out of the paper.
After the exam, we saw the lecturer being instructed to ensure the guy sits and writes his exam while being helped by the same lecturer
