It's time for a reintroduction! Buttle UK is a charity that supports children & young people who face poverty & crisis situations.
Founded back in 1953, we give grants to support families for everyday necessities that we would expect any child growing up in the UK to have.
7-year-old Lucas and his mum left home with just a bin bag of clothes after fleeing years of abuse. With a grant from Buttle, they’ve rebuilt their lives. Now, Lucas goes to school happy and confident. Every child deserves a fair start, that’s why we’re here.
At 16, May was kicked out after coming out as a lesbian. Without ID or support, she couldn’t access benefits or work. With help from Buttle, she accessed therapy. Sign our letter calling for support for estranged young people 📝 https://t.co/yLGAlcBRHr

Where are the considerations for vulnerable young people who have been forced to leave their homes? Behind youth unemployment and NEET statistics, there are over 200,000 estranged young people who are struggling with no statutory support.
We really appreciate seeing children in poverty & youth unemployment mentioned in the King’s speech yesterday, but we need sustained investment in families to address child poverty at its core if the government wants to meet its target of halving the disadvantage gap.
The King’s Speech shows the government still isn’t delivering on voters’ biggest priority: bringing down the cost of living.
Following the results of the local election, the government should be focused on bringing down rising costs and boosting our living standards.
NEW: The #KingsSpeech mentioned change – but with global issues driving up the cost of living, more must be done for people on the lowest incomes.
2.6 million food parcels were provided last year. Without more action, we risk even more people being forced to turn to a food bank
We look forward to working with all governments to ensure that these manifesto promises translate into real-world dignity, ensuring that no child’s future is capped by the hardship they experience today
We see families pushed to the brink by a cost-of-living crisis that has left 4m children across the UK living in poverty. The disparity is more stark for children from Black & Asian communities, where 47% are living in poverty, over double the rate of their white peers
Sometimes things can be tough, but remember, you’re tougher 💪
We asked our Youth Advisory Panel what hope means to them, and one member told us that it means believing that something good will come.
