@ThomasWatsonCD@DorchesterRev If I were the one deciding such things, I’d run it like the ceremonial guard with gunners augmenting from across the country during the summer months. This would ensure the opportunity is open and burden is spread out, rather than on a single unit.

@ReiverHall Costs are always prohibitive. I don’t see that as a justification not to do things. We manage to staff other ceremonial units like the Strats mounted troop. The King’s Troop RHA has demonstrated proof of concept for the arty.
@ReiverHall Not necessarily. A model that uses largely non-public funds to support a ceremonial unit via not-for-profit regimental association(s) could enable.
“At 75, Princess Anne once again rode on horseback at Trooping the Colour, a remarkable display of dedication, resilience and horsemanship.
In an age where many would step back from such ceremonial duties, The Princess Royal continues to lead by example, embodying a lifetime of service and unwavering commitment to Crown and country

Canada standing guard for His Majesty The King 🇨🇦
On exchange in London, Capt Simonds is taking part in ceremonial guard duties alongside the @BritishArmy at the residences of His Majesty, Canada’s Head of State.
A powerful reflection of the Canada–U.K. defence relationship.
I had the privilege of seeing 1390 (20 Fd Regt RCA) RCACC receive the Alberta Shield for top corps in the province. Also honoured to present the CO 20 Fd Regt Award for Cadets to the cadet who demonstrated the greatest commitment to the history and traditions of the RCA.

@ReiverHall@edhollett It doesn’t look sloppy when the RCMP salute palm-forward while on parade with the CAF. Likewise it would not look sloppy if the army returned to doing so. In my opinion, it’s a moot point.
@ReiverHall@edhollett In fact, we already have a mixture of different salutes on parades whether it be with arms, without, with swords, etc. How would returning to the traditional army salute be any different?
