I am originally from Louisiana. Lived in Missouri for about a decade, and near Mobile, AL for many years. I work IT for State of AL. Based in Tuscaloosa.
A sharp drop in temps is expected this weekend! What to know:
- Pleasant during the day Sat followed by a quick-moving batch of scattered showers late Sat
- Much colder on Sun w/ gusty winds adding an extra "bite" to the air!
- Coldest temps settle in Sun night w/ lows in the 10s
Very cold conditions are expected early Monday morning. Temperatures will be in the middle teens to lower 20s with a light breeze making it feel between 5 to 10 degrees colder for some locations. Be sure to bundle up at the bus stop and protect pets and pipes.
MISSING PERSON ALERT: Birmingham Police are looking for 25-year-old Tiffany Merritt.

TOMORROW/TOMORROW NIGHT: A dynamic weather system will bring showers and thunderstorms into the Deep South. The main concern for Alabama is strong straight line winds, but a tornado or two is possible, mainly over the northern third of the state.
This is early April, and having a system like this is very routine for this time of the year. Don’t get caught up in all the hyperbole, just have a good way of hearing warnings and we will get through the day together just fine.
I will have a new discussion and video briefing here very early tomorrow morning.
Some advice for the creators of “outrageous” SM content. 1) When something happens spontaneously, rarely is there a second camera providing a reverse reaction shot. 2) There is such a thing as opportunity being TOO convenient. 3) I am begging you to take a daggum acting class.
This isn’t how to get clicks, likes, shares, or followers. But it is the truth. Alabama’s weather looks very, very quiet for the next seven days with no high impact events. Here is today’s afternoon briefing: https://t.co/ws2Rj7oMMj
And just like that, we have another severe weather event coming into focus. Tornadoes will be possible, along with damaging winds and hail. Use the time leading up to Thursday to prepare and turn your thoughts to safety plans! Stay aware of any updates that are shared! #alwx
We will see a strong storm system affect Central Alabama on Thursday. We expect damaging straight-line winds to be the primary risk but a tornado or two will be possible. The event timing looks to be during the afternoon. Check back for updates as we refine the forecast.
Round 1 of storms is in the process of shifting into GA w/ the tail end of activity still affecting areas toward I-85. Round 2 is kicking off back in MS and will pose a risk of severe weather tonight into early Wed AM, including: tornadoes, damaging winds, and quarter size hail.
⚠️Extreme cold product UPDATES from overnight: A Wind Chill WARNING is now in effect Thursday night into Friday morning for northern counties. Wind chills (feels like temps) are expected to be -10° or less in these areas. A Wind Chill Watch remains for areas further south. #alwx
I’m hearing the outdoor faucet covers are sold out in many places. Wrap them in a towel and a plastic bag along with duct tape. It may not be fancy, but it will help with the upcoming cold snap. #alwx@wvua23
