Do you realize there are only three active licenses right now and the other 12 won’t be operational for years? Texas patients can get an MMJ card and start pressuring their local and state officials to expand the program.

What actually happened is Texas passed the medical law in 2015 and the first patients finally got product in 2018. The three licenses were never meant to be the permanent ceiling, but meaningful expansion kept getting blocked. Then the 2018 Farm Bill and Texas’s 2019 hemp law opened the floodgates for intoxicating hemp products that undercut the medical program for years.

@DanPatrick has long opposed broader marijuana access and was content to let the medical program stay tiny while the unregulated hemp market exploded until pressured. @GregAbbott_TX signed a few limited expansions but never treated patient access like a real priority which is WILD because HE'S disabled. A functioning, properly scaled medical program would have killed most of the demand for that intoxicating hemp nonsense and you know it. Fifteen licenses for a state this size is still an insult.

So yes, Brian, I completely understand that Texas needs a real MMJ program. If more people actually got cards and made noise about it, the state would be forced to keep expanding instead of hiding behind the same three operators for almost a decade.

Nine out of twelve.

Twelve veterans with severe, treatment-resistant PTSD. Two psilocybin sessions. One month later, nine of them no longer met the criteria for PTSD. I'm just a political science major from South Jersey, but "treatment resistant" to me sounds like the end of the road.

Small, open-label study out of Ohio State. The researchers are the first to say it needs larger trials, and they're right.

Those twelve aren't abstractions to me.

Over five years I've sat with hundreds of veterans, first responders, and family members. Walked alongside. Held space. Laughed, cried. Rejoiced.

What those twelve men are describing is not new to me. I've heard it hundreds of times, from people already told there was nothing left to try.

While this published sample is small, the community I've been standing in for five years is not.

I don't need a trial to tell me it's possible. I lived it.

May 2021 I flew to Mexico because I'd run out of options and I was running out of reasons. Five years later I stood in the Oval Office watching an executive order signed on ibogaine and psychedelic research.

When I founded No Fallen Heroes Foundation, I framed the work in language Americans would accept — medicine, treatment, outcomes. That was honest. It wasn't complete.

Because in that room in Mexico I stopped being a patient. What I encountered was not a drug. It was a sacrament.

That's why Sacred Warrior Fellowship exists.

Two organizations. Two lanes. Deliberately separate.

No Fallen Heroes Foundation works in the open — outreach, peer support, family support, connection to care. No faith requirement. Nobody turned away.

Science is catching up to what a lot of us already know and other cultures have known for millennia. Good. Keep the trials coming and the data honest.

But don't lose what's underneath it. Veterans aren't broken — they just need to be reminded of who they truly are. God does not make imperfect things.

What happened to me isn't repair. It's restoration.
