On the night of December 8–9, 2012, DEVGRU (SEAL Team 6) operator Edward Byers was on a mission in Afghanistan to rescue American doctor Dilip Joseph, who was held by the Taliban.
As the team neared the target building, an enemy sentry spotted them and ran inside to warn the other captors. The sentry soon reappeared, and the lead assaulter engaged him.
Byers and his teammates then sprinted to the entrance. Serving as the primary breacher, he remained fully exposed in the doorway while helping to tear away six layers of heavy blankets that had been fastened across the ceiling and walls, clearing a path for the force.
The first assaulter, Nicolas Checque, forced his way through the blankets and was immediately struck by enemy fire from inside the room, suffering mortal wounds. Fully aware of the danger, Byers then charged into the room and engaged a guard who was aiming an AK-47 at him. He next tackled a second adult male who had bolted toward a corner. In the ensuing struggle he determined the man was not the hostage and engaged him.
When teammates called out for the hostage and an English-speaking voice answered, Byers raced toward the sound. He threw himself over the American hostage, shielding him with his own body against the intense gunfire filling the small room. While covering the hostage, Byers used his bare hands to immobilize yet another guard and held him until a teammate could eliminate the threat.
His decisive actions under fire saved the hostage’s life, and also the lives of several of his teammates. Byers was awarded the Medal of Honor on February 29, 2016.

🚨He never registered to vote. So how did ballots end up in his name?
John Fitzgerald Kennedy lived in the Detroit area for 48 years without registering.
After moving and changing his driver's license, Michigan registered him anyway using his old address without his authorization.
Then came the bombshell: absentee ballots had been issued in his name.
