Dr. Anamelechi shares story of a child who landed in ER for #oralhealth problem after red tape caused lack of coverage access. We can avoid the financial & physical pain in part by ensuring comprehensive #coverage4kids as well as parents. #redtapetales
Happy to see my friend Dr. Anamelechi @CCPedDent along with @hospitals4kids briefing on how Congress can improve #coverage4kids. We must ensure kids have medical & #oralhealth coverage of Medicaid/CHIP so they can reach their dreams. https://t.co/Jg2RF0XkyW

I share Dr. Edward B Shils Entrepreneurial Fund, Inc. Innovator Award with @Teeth_Matter team. Since starting 22 years ago, #oralhealth policy innovation has been a core principle of our work. Watch our 2-min video: https://t.co/suv57XpMjN
This has nothing to do with the reasons that more kids are uninsured - which this thread doesn’t mention. Census data was clear - it’s the loss of Medicaid/CHIP that’s driving the increase for kids. CMS hasn’t even acknowledged that this is happening — much less tried to fix it.
The Census Bureau has a special report out on kids -- using CPS data the uninsured rate for kids went up from 4.9% to 5.5%. It is attributed to the loss of public coverage -- ie Medicaid/CHIP.

Some #pregnancy complications are linked to poor #oralhealth, yet policy gaps put dental coverage out of reach of many low-wage women. Join @Teeth_Matter & @FamiliesUSA for a tweet chat on 8/20 from 3-4pmET on boosting access for all adults & families. Use #CoverOralHealth.
Today we’re celebrating the 54th birthday of #Medicaid, a lifeline for 1 in 5 Americans & key source of kids' #dental coverage. Tweet with us all day to spotlight its successes and share strategies to protect & build on its progress.
Medicaid #dental coverage in #pregnancy is not assured at the federal level; it's up to states to cover. This patchwork system harms maternal health, child health & can risk family economic stability. Policymakers can close these gaps. Our brief explains: https://t.co/uyFIVNuJ3U
NEW BLOG: "Healthier women have safer, healthier pregnancies, in turn giving newborns the best chance for a healthy start. Evidence suggests this holds true for #oralhealth and #maternalhealth."

We joined partners like @AmerAcadPeds@GeorgetownCCF in speaking against a proposal that may risk stable #housing for 55,000+ kids. Housing is a factor that shapes children's #oralhealth. Most kids facing homelessness don't get needed dental care: https://t.co/t7cN5kM0ba
