Although disappointed that @NorthernUNISON didn't vote, we were delighted that so many unions who did beat the threshold last year such as @ucuatdurham @neu_durham @pcs_union@RMTunion@ASLEFunion did vote to help best practice and support other unions to take action!
Durham Trades Councils motion calls for @TUCNorthern to facilitate time and space to discuss union organising and how all unions can work together to improve union engagement and support each other to take action #NTUC24
"There is a wealth of organising power in this room... we need to build strength, we need to take the lead. Let's organise!" Durham Trades Council Secretary implodes @TUCNorthern to stop just talking and take real action to support trade unions to fight back! #ntuc24
‘We don’t often hear from the media that industrial action works, but it does.
We’ve seen workers get double figure pay rises by saying no to their employer and standing together’.
Great to have our own @rowantuc speaking at #NTUC24 today!
‘There is nothing left to cut.’
Fantastic speech from Nicky Ramanandi of @NorthernUNISON highlighting the devastating impact of cuts to local authority funding and the need for a National Care Service.

I've voted for a ceasefire, which is backed by the @UN & its agencies, over 700 NGOs, @Pontifex & the majority of the British public - including 100s of my constituents in the City of Durham.
I'll now return to the NE, my dad is very unwell. Please excuse me if I seem quieter.
Disputes aren't just about pay, working conditions matter and when your workforce is telling you there are problems then you should listen! Solidarity with striking workers: standing up for improved services and safety!

THIS IS SHOCKING
On Wednesday, Sunak said he would prioritise education funding.
Now I've just been called into a last-minute DfE meeting (5.30pm Friday), only to be informed that unplanned cuts are coming!
School funding will rise by just 2%, not 2.8% promised in July.
We already have record class sizes and can't recruit or retain teachers.
Sunak must commit to stop school cuts.
@GillianKeegan, we need a ministerial statement!

Due to the lack of support and interest from the unions of Durham, it is with sadness that we have to announce the temporary closure of County Durham Trades Union Council.
The remaining members have tried to continue but new interest is not forthcoming.

For too long, support staff in education have been undervalued.
With another below inflation offer this year, all @NEUnion support staff members are recommended to reject this pay cut.
Ballot is open until 14 October.
#supportstaffdeservebetter#payup
It’s simple
The current offer doesn’t value any of the wonderful support staff in education
❌@NEUnion support staff members should vote to reject this pay cut
✅ Yes to action ✊
