Statement from CEBA CEO @powellrich on the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act:
"This bipartisan package is a generational opportunity to unleash abundant American energy through faster infrastructure permitting and improved transmission planning. Thank you to Chairs @SenCapito and @SenMikeLee, Ranking Members @SenWhitehouse and @SenatorHeinrich, and @POTUS for your leadership on this critical issue.
"We do not have qualms about whether this will mean we have a cleaner electricity system in the future than what we have under the status quo," England added. "Congress should take the deal on the table and pass it this year."
It's a cohesive push by the clean energy industry to say "unequivocally, deeply, explicitly, this is an enormous win for getting clean energy onto the grid," CEBA’s vice president of government affairs @REnglandDC told me
Today, CEBA joined the @SEIA, @USCleanPower, @ACORE, and @AdvEnergyUnited in a letter to congressional leaders sharing the clean energy industry's strong support for the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act (BAAJA).
"Passing BAAJA is not only the biggest step we can take to improve energy affordability for all Americans, it is also an enormous opportunity for clean energy deployment to reduce emissions from the power sector," CEBA’s Vice President of Government Affairs @REnglandDC said. "Congress should take the deal on the table and pass it this year."

News: Clean energy groups briefed House @NewDemCoalition members on the Senate's bipartisan permitting reform bill today. 8 New Dem lawmakers joined the briefing with @USCleanPower, @ACORE, @SEIA, and @CEBAPower
Passage of the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act (BAAJA) presents a once-in-a-generation opportunity for critical transmission development.
The U.S. must implement two parallel pathways to increase transmission capacity — unlock more capacity from the grid we already have AND build the interregional transmission system we ultimately need.
"Optimization without long-term buildout squeezes incremental capacity from an already structurally constrained and aging grid; buildout without near-term optimization cannot address the immediate demand challenge."

Thank you to @GavinNewsom for signing SB 905 into law last night, a critical step to help lower electricity bills in California, accelerate clean energy deployment, and support continued economic growth 🎉
S.B. 905 addresses how California’s grid is currently managed — requiring the state to use its existing grid infrastructure more effectively.
"California has long been a clean energy leader; now the state is paving the way as a leader in pragmatic power grid solutions. Maximizing the efficiency of our existing electrical grid is one of the most immediate and effective strategies available to address affordability and accelerate clean energy deployment needed to support continued economic growth. Thank you to California Sen. @JoshBeckerSV, @SenHenryStern, and Assemblymember @tashaboerner."
-CEBA's Director of Western Policy Lindsay Battenberg
"CEBA has advocated for a bipartisan agreement on permitting and transmission reform for many years. This package presents an incredible opportunity for clean energy, and we look forward to seeing it cross the finish line. Thank you to all the lawmakers and their staff for the countless hours spent negotiating this package over the last year."
"Enacting smart, technology-neutral permitting and transmission reform legislation is critical to advance energy infrastructure to power America’s global leadership. As energy prices continue to rise and power demand surges, we encourage lawmakers to advance this monumental legislation, ensuring American homes and businesses have access to the low-cost, reliable power they desperately need.
Constraining abundant, domestic clean energy resources could cost the U.S. at least $121 billion in additional energy expenses in the coming years.
CEBA's statement on @ENERGY's (DOE) Speed to Power Investment:
"CEBA applauds DOE’s SPARK initiative and its $2 billion investment in technologies that can quickly unlock additional transmission capacity, improve reliability, and help put downward pressure on rising electricity prices. The selected projects demonstrate how reconductoring and grid enhancing technologies can deliver fast, meaningful results by getting more power from existing infrastructure and relieving transmission constraints.
As electricity demand continues to grow, these investments should be viewed as a critical near-term step toward a broader effort to modernize the grid and expand transmission capacity nationwide. Combining advanced transmission technologies with accelerated development of new interregional transmission infrastructure is essential to ensuring America has the reliable, affordable, and secure electricity system needed to support long-term economic growth and competitiveness."

We were delighted to sponsor @NCEWConf last week — big thanks to @CRESenergy for organizing such an informative event!
💡 CEBA Policy SVP Nidhi Thakar moderated an all-star panel discussing how surging power demand presents a generational opportunity for energy sector investment, infrastructure expansion, and economic development.
💡 And CEBA Gov. Affairs VP @REnglandDC shared his perspective on energy demand, energy politics & permitting reform.
We remain hopeful that negotiators can soon reach consensus on a bipartisan permitting and transmission reform package needed to accelerate critical infrastructure buildout.
Exciting news: please join us in welcoming Dawn James as the inaugural executive director of our Texas chapter, the @txenergybuyers 🎉
TEBA advocates for competitive energy policies that strengthen grid reliability and affordability, expand critical infrastructure, support innovation, and enable continued economic growth across Texas.
Welcome, @geodawn_james!
We’re very excited to welcome Dawn James (@geodawn_james) as TEBA’s new executive director!
For more than 25 years, Dawn has helped shape critical decisions and conversations in energy, technology, business strategy, and infrastructure. Most recently, she led Sustainability Leadership & Training, an executive advisory firm, and previously held executive roles at @Microsoft and @Deloitte, with earlier experience at @Halliburton and @Schlumberger in Houston.
“This is a critical moment for Texas. We face unprecedented electricity demand growth, but the opportunities that come with that growth are even greater,” she said. “By advancing smart, durable energy policies, we can meet these challenges and cement the state’s economic and energy leadership for another century.”
As executive director, Dawn will lead TEBA’s strategy, policy engagement, and growth in Texas. Working with TEBA members, the Texas Legislature, @PUCTX, and @ERCOT_ISO, she’ll play a key role in advancing durable policy and market solutions that support reliable, affordable electricity, continued economic growth and a competitive Texas energy market.

Statement from CEBA Vice President of Government Affairs Rich England on House passage of the High-Capacity Grid Act:
"Advanced transmission technologies are commonsense, low-cost tools that can quickly add transmission capacity using existing infrastructure. As electricity costs rise and demand for power surges, we must use the existing grid more efficiently, enabling households and companies alike to get the energy they need, reliably and affordably.
Thank you to @RepFedorchak for her leadership on this issue and @HouseCommerce Committee Chair @RepGuthrie for advancing transmission legislation."
Corridors of Commerce: an innovative way to use existing transportation corridors to hasten the buildout of electricity grid infrastructure critical to supporting America’s economic growth.
“To compete with China, America needs creative solutions not only to upgrade its traditional infrastructure, but to fast-track the new systems that will fuel industry for generations to come. That means more high-voltage transmission lines to make energy more affordable and meet skyrocketing industrial demand.” -@SecDuffy said in his @washingtonpost column.
CEBA has been a consistent advocate of transmission expansion and permitting reform to ensure reliable, affordable power households and businesses need. Leveraging existing rights-of-way is a no-regrets approach to help address infrastructure and permitting challenges while accelerating critical energy deployment.
