Over the last 3 weeks, even though I will likely not finish my manuscript in its entirety, I WAS able to 1. make enough money to pay my remaining rent without help 2. Make amazing strides in trauma therapy. 3. Build a meaningful relationship.
MY FINAL THOUGHT: Be kind to yourself. Academia may not always be kind to you. Your supervisors have their own deadlines and plans for their time, and that is okay. You won't always please everyone, but don't forget what you have accomplished regardless of the setbacks.
@RogersLabUCD My lab works with these all the time (Connon Lab at UCD). I havent personally had to feed delta smelt but I can put you in contact with people who may know more if you still need!
Drinking wine while grading before having an assignment due at midnight after not having gotten more than 4 hours of sleep a night for the past 2 weeks isn't a GOOD idea... but it is a tempting one...
I let it slip that I am a grad student in my Organic Chemistry discord server and the words "It's like having a celebrity in our class!" were tossed around and my ego cannot handle this rn ๐
My plan was always to move back to NC once I finished my Master's bc rent was a lot cheaper out there.
NC, 2020: 1Br, ~$900
CA, 2020: 1Br, ~$1200
NC, 2022: 1Br, ~$1318
CA, 2022: 1Br, ~$1400
Jobs still pay a lot less out there. Yikes.
My partner currently lives in SF and both of our leases are up in the next month or so and our goal is to live a bit closer together. He has been hinting that I should move out to the Bay Area.... but then I showed him rent prices out here. He has been TURNED.
