Today is a special and exciting moment for us as we screen our animation during the Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) for the 3rd year. "Najiamini" is a short animated film about Mira, a young lady who became physically disabled after a road accident that happened during a school trip after they received a championship award.

This short animation sheds light on two main issues:

1st: The resilience of people with disabilities. Mira represents all individuals who never give up on their dreams regardless of their circumstances. In Africa, there is a proverb that encapsulates this spirit: "Smooth seas do not make skillful sailors." This proverb emphasizes the idea that challenges and setbacks in life do not define us but rather provide opportunities for growth and resilience. Mira's story is a testament to this proverb, as she does not allow her physical disability to hinder her love and dream of becoming a successful basketball player. She is truly an inspiration to all of us, reminding us that with determination and perseverance, we can overcome any obstacle and achieve our goals.
