Simply put, the supply of housing has not kept pace with increasing demand, making housing too expensive for far too many people.
We at @HUDgov are using our tools to ensure families have access to affordable homes.
The Biden-Harris Administration is laser-focused on addressing homelessness with urgency and care.
With HUD’s annual PIT count helping to guide us, HUD has dedicated a tremendous amount of our funding and resources to help get people off the streets and into homes.
The 2024 Point-in-Time count kicks off this week, the country’s only official count of people experiencing homelessness on a single night.
Here’s why it’s so important.
By the numbers: HUD and our community partners are projected to serve 330,000 people in 2023, a 15% increase from 2022.
Additionally, HUD has worked with Public Housing Authorities across the country to help more than 94,000 households exit or avoid homelessness this year.
Today, HUD announced $25 million in awards for seven Public Housing Agencies to expand housing choices for Housing Choice Voucher families with children by increasing access to neighborhoods with high-performing schools, access to jobs, low crime, parks, and other amenities.
