How railway projects work?
* Quote a very low amount & win tender (L1).
* After the contract is awarded, 'scope of work' expands & pushing up project cost.
* Delay the project for years, then seek cost escalation & revised estimates.
* No blacklisting of underperforming contractors & reputed firms stay away from such tenders.
Rinse & repeat for the next project.
The ongoing monsoon has once again highlighted the difficulties faced by passengers at Kabaka Puttur Railway Station. Although the much-awaited platform shelter extension project was sanctioned and announced several months ago, work has still not commenced on the ground. As a result, passengers continue to face inconvenience during heavy rains, with large portions of the platform remaining exposed to the weather.
The situation becomes particularly challenging during the arrival and departure of long-distance trains, when hundreds of passengers are forced to walk through uncovered sections of the platform. The station parking area has also turned muddy and waterlogged due to inadequate drainage, creating further inconvenience for passengers, senior citizens and those carrying luggage.
Kabaka Puttur serves as an important railway station for Puttur and neighbouring regions. Passenger traffic has grown steadily over the years, yet the sanctioned infrastructure improvements remain pending. The photographs taken during the current monsoon clearly demonstrate the urgent need for early execution of the approved works.
We request @SWRRLY and @DrmMys to kindly expedite the commencement of the approved platform shelter extension work and also take necessary steps to improve the station parking area, drainage facilities and overall passenger amenities before the monsoon intensifies further.
Passengers have waited long enough. The sanctioned project should now move from paper to reality.
@RailwaySeva, @RailMinIndia please take actions as soon as possible.

For months, @AshwiniVaishnaw, @Tejasvi_Surya Ji, and many other political leaders hyped a new "SUPERFAST TRAIN" between Mumbai and Bengaluru. The public was overjoyed with this announcement, as the Mumbai–Bengaluru sector was finally going to get its 2nd dedicated train after 30 years, and that too a fast one. But what did people actually get?
A "SUPERSLOW TRAIN" taking 24 hours to cover the 1,208 km distance between Mumbai and Bengaluru via Hubballi, with an average speed of just 50 km/h. Even by Indian Railways' own definition, trains with an average speed above 55 km/h should fall under the superfast category. What's even worse is that it is not even a daily train, it runs only twice a week :)
Yesterday, the new train was flagged off with huge celebrations, as if it was some great achievement, that too in 2026. Imagine spending crores on doubling, electrification, and track upgrades, only to introduce a SUPERSLOW train like this.
I had much better expectations. We all had much better expectations. But you (the government) failed us "SUPER-DISAPPOINTED!"

Sir @JoshiPralhad, this is not the superfast train we have been waiting for all these years. The train still takes almost a full day to reach the destination. Kindly intervene and ensure a daily service with a journey time of 21 hours or less. @JagadishShettar@VSOMANNA_BJP
