@MKoellhoffer @duolingo I have the same issue. And I agree. Some people can still practice to earn hearts and others can't. Most of the changes Duolingo makes, I can live with. But this one tops the scales. There are alternatives --most people are suggesting Drops or Lingvist.

Laws are written in non-regular-human-readable language. It's always so 'someone' can avoid or benefit unfairly from the law. 'Someone' who is richer/more powerful than me. Plus no one is in charge of organizing the resultant gobbledygook.

@jooltman @nyc311 1) Example: NYC Compost fiasco (law created by budget): funding was yanked in a Nov last year forms the extremely successful GrowNYC community composting program & replaced w nowhere-near-ready, yet mandatory as of 2025 DSNY program. Decades of advocacy/stewardship/education 🚽
