In smart contract security it's called a centralization attack vector.
Yeah it might be "adoption" but it ain't Bitcoin...
not your keys not your crypto🔗💥
@cryptobastardTX @AltcoinDailyio Yup, it will. but only the legacy / not-quantum-resistant address types. Private key lost such wallets will be hacked and those funds be re-added to the circulation. Whenever quantum resistant address type / algo is introduced, you gotta move your bitcoin over there.
@Crypto__Champ @MasonVersluis@Ledger 1/2 Bro it's not about you subscribing to it or not. Ledger advertised their devices saying that the private key can never leave the secure element even with a firmware update (which means it's hardware-level protection that they advertised)
@Crypto__Champ @MasonVersluis@Ledger 2/2 now all of a sudden you have a firmware update that let them export the seed. This is the ISSUE!, not that the service is optional or not. If that was a software-level protection any malware could infect a ledger device and could export the keys this whole time.
@_Wyb0@Ledger If it was possible by a firmware update, it was always possible. If done right it should be a hardware-level protection (no software update shouldn't be able to enable such a feature).
