NEW: India’s current air quality standards (NAAQS) don't reflect the latest science on the impacts of #airpollution on people's health. Our paper suggests a structured approach to revising current & future NAAQS - with health at the centre of the process.

Addressing adaptation finance is crucial at #COP28, esp during what's projected to be the hottest year on record. @CPR_India has compiled a guide on leveraging India’s powerful Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) to fund robust heat resilience solutions 1/5

If you do the hard work on national policies, it can move the global consensus faster rather than expecting a global consensus to lead to national policies on, for e.g., phasing out fossil fuels or tripling RE - arguments by @NavrozDubash in Bloomberg. https://t.co/g2JvrxgtaE

In a short @ScienceMagazine piece I argue that natl politics and policy, more than ambition-chasing targets, will be the locomotive that pulls the carbon economy. This implies rebalancing the 'ambition cycle' toward supporting & enabling national processes https://t.co/ynOpAZdU2k
NEW: Is an ambition cycle driven by competitive target-setting effectively addressing climate change? @NavrozDubash in @ScienceMagazine argues for rebalancing focus from this approach toward shifting climate politics & building policies at national level.

With #airpollution looming, it's crucial to revise India's air quality standards (NAAQS) to ensure they are anchored in latest science & prioritize health protection. Paper by @bhargavkrishna & @abinaya_sekar94 suggests a structured approach for the same:

#Unevendevelopment#Coal#labour In this chapter, I explore how the uneven and combined development of India’s coal industry since the late colonial period shaped unevenness among its labour forces and led to the fragmentation of the worker's solidarity. https://t.co/IlwSmKMet9
Environmental policy must be centered on protecting health. So how do we do this? @abinaya_sekar94 and I take a crack at approaching this question through the lens of AQ standards. They impact us all but we know so little about how they're determined. This shouldn't be the case..

@CPCB_OFFICIAL As we await the submission of the review committee's report and notification of the new NAAQS by CPCB, the authors emphasize the necessity of institutionalizing this process to ensure its periodic conduct. They suggest conducting a review once every five years.
