We should talk more about mental health struggles in academia. It's challenging, in particular for international students. It's not easy and we shouldn't let our struggles for ourselves. It's important to speak out and ask for help.
Ready to go for the "Nothing to hide" workshop on #Privacy in #SmartHomes at @OsloMet - organized by @CPaupini w/ @drganthonyg and others. Two days of presentations and interactive ideation. Will definitely be fun 🤘
New paper out: "Neuronal avalanche dynamics and functional connectivity elucidate information propagation in vitro" https://t.co/a423kosEJW with @stenichele & collaborators at the Sandvig lab. @SocratesNFR@DeepCA_NFR
Having a fantastic time at the #BernsteinConference! Especially enjoyed speaking at the workshop on stability & change and meeting other speakers & organizers. You put on a great event, @chc1987 @LeeSusman & Maayan! Thanks @Timothy0Leary and Michael for sharing the slot with me
If you are a white scholar who has been invited to talk about Africa and you notice that there are no Africans on your panel or in the program you have a responsibility to 1) refuse, 2) call out the problem, and 3) demand that an African scholar take your place. Bare minimum!
If my hiring had been like this, I would have been forced to do my PhD elsewhere—I couldn’t have afforded to spend months in unemployment limbo. Norway is one of the best countries to be a PhD fellow. @OsloMet needs to lean into that or we risk weakening our research foundations.
This is what my hiring was like: if i didn't have the privilege of coming from an EU country and a very supportive family I would have been forced to do my PhD elsewhere. Norway is one of the best places to work in academia, but @OsloMet needs to do better by their researchers!
@KrisHeiney@OsloMet My hiring actually WAS like this, and if i didn't have the privilege of coming from an EU country and having a very supportive family i would have been forced to do my PhD elsewhere as well.
Thrilled to have hosted the brilliant Herbert Jaeger of @univgroningen at this week’s @OsloMetAI Lab Seminar. We had a great conversation on his work to move toward a unifying theory for material computing. Hope we can continue the conversation in person soon!
