It’s equal parts interesting and fascinating to compare and contrast the build strategies between the Knicks and Spurs.
Proves we can’t be so rigid when as fans we try to prescribe the formula
This is dumb. The "hope a leak will let Miami keep pieces" strategy has blown up on them. If they have a punchers chance, they need to empty the clip. Their offer is already 'sort of good', they can't get cute.
If Giannis wants Miami, it's time for him & his camp (including an agent shared with Bam) to press the button. Any leak that he won't extend somewhere else will limit the Bucks' options. That allows the Heat to keep 1-2 pieces. That helps the build around Giannis, to compete.
@5ReasonsSports I mean, it is dumb. That's literally been their only position on these star trades, hoping star has influence when they don't or player gets frustrated and gets sent wherever. Hope is fun, but reality is a thing.
100% agree, they're barely cracking the Top 4 in the East. I think the argument is the Blazers are actually building something and have assets to play with, whereas the Heat don't have much, so they have no choice but shoot their shot.
Former Miami Dolphins head coach Dave Wannstedt, a mentor to Jeff Hafley, and former player Trace Armstrong. Hafley’ agent, attended practice today. So did Zach Thomas and Dan Marino. Wannstedt is the last coach to lead the Dolphins to a playoff victory. It was December 2000.
I think the sneaky Giannis suitor is Atlanta. They have the assets, were a fun team once they dumped Trae, and have a solid core. They could make a jump past Cleveland, at least.
In a vacuum, the Blazers can offer a better deal than Miami (and most teams). Can't argue that.
I guess my question is why would Portland bother? Giannis doesn't make them a top 4 team in the West, and he probably doesn't re-sign. Is it just a new owner wanting to make a splash?
The Blazers are at a clear asset advantage over the Heat even without the picks. Their young players are just better. If there's an honest bidding war, Portland beats Miami. But those picks aren't the golden bullet they were in February, is my only point.
