No chance to speak against the #pcaga CN report so I'll post my planned speech here.

I rise to speak against the committee’s report.  I have two points.

Point 1

The Pastoral Letter warns against those who claim that “nations” are defined by a shared ethnicity.

In Genesis 10, the sons of Japheth are enumerated, and we then read “From these the coastland peoples spread in their lands, each with his own language, by their clans, in their nations.”

In Deuteronomy 2, God commanded Moses not to attack certain nations, because “I have given Mount Seir to Esau as a possession,” and “I have given Ar to the people of Lot for a possession”.

In Acts 17, Paul says that God allocated to the nations the boundaries of their dwelling places.

And yet the report specifically denies that a shared ethnicity gives a people any political legitimacy.  I cannot reconcile this with those passages.

We further read in the report a condemnation of the view that a nation should have a common culture.  If a nation is not defined by a common ethnic background, nor by a common culture, just what does define a nation?  The report is silent on this.

Point 2

The way the committee interprets WCF 23 introduces a contradiction into our standards.

Larger Catechism 108 requires us to “disapprove, detest, oppose, all false worship; and, according to each one’s place and calling, remove it, and all monuments of idolatry.”

Gerhardus Vos, in his commentary on that question, wrote “every Christian is bound to undertake the removal of false worship according to the measure of authority which God has committed to him, whether in family, church, or state.”

If we accept the committee’s interpretation of WCF 23, there is no way I can see for the civil magistrate to lawfully carry out the duty taught in Larger Catechism 108.

There’s also a contradiction with Larger Catechism 191, which teaches us “In the second petition… we pray that … the church [be] countenanced and maintained by the civil magistrates”

The committee’s interpretation of WCF 23 causes us to have a duty to pray for something that our confession says is not lawful.

Conclusion

I urge you to recall the words of Psalm 2.

Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.  Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled.

That is Christian Nationalism in a nutshell.  So I urge you to reject this report.

He is a defender of Greg Johnson. He is "same sex attracted" or whatever is code for "having gay desires is just part of who I am" these days.

He is against the #savethepca campaign, and told me that "Shepherdess = manufactured crisis."

He was also on the subcommittee that investigated the original allegations against Burk Parsons of St. Andrews Chapel.

Side note: Pastor Parsons isn't a defender of Greg Johnson or same sex attracted.

This is Elder Augenstein's good friend @jerryklemm, pastor of Covenant Church (PCA). He is the prosecutor in the current case against Burk Parsons.

Elder Augenstein and Pastor Klemm are signers of an open letter of encouragement called A Faithful PCA.

It was to assure the PCA that all the talk about them ordaining homosexuals was overblown.

The letter was also signed by former PCA Pastor Jeremy Fair who was recently arrested on prostitution charges.

And a bunch of elders promoting functional female officers or gay celibate Christianity stuff like Irwin Ince, @zachbradley, Ted Spaid (no longer in the PCA), Scott Saul (resigned for harsh leadership), etc., signed this monstrosity.

Everyone on this list is worth looking into. Here's all the signees...
