The world sells singleness as the preferable option at every turn. We are likely in a moment where young women need much more to hear that it's OK (and, in fact, preferable) *not* to be single.
Probably about the only way back from this is to return to an emphasis on memorization and rhetoric in education (closed book written exams, oral exams, debates as exams, etc.) Research writing can no longer be trusted as a metric of competency.
