The Finance Committee officially passed SB 842, bringing Connecticut one step closer to a public option for healthcare.
Huge news for small businesses and working families across our state!
🚨 HUGE NEWS 🚨
Despite insurance industry threats and millions in dark money advertising and lobbying to kill the public option, Senate Bill 842 is moving forward and has momentum.
This is a huge step forward in the fight for affordable health care.
Read our statements:
I’m glad to see the bill make it to the senate, and I'm confident that the majority of legislators will stand up on behalf of their constituents and support real reforms, including new public options, that will make health care more affordable, accessible and equitable.
Despite enormous outside pressure, legislators took a key step to advance health care legislation today. Although the current language remains unacceptable and insufficient to address the health care affordability crisis in CT, today’s vote will allow negotiations to continue.
The Finance Committee just advanced SB 842, our bill creating a public option and lowering costs for the middle class, with bipartisan support.
One (big) step closer to making health care affordable for the people of CT.
Let's get this done @ComptrolLembo@MattLesser !
🚨 ACTION ALERT 🚨
The overwhelming majority of CT residents and small business owners want legislators to TAKE ACTION and make health care more affordable.
Now they need to hear from you. Call, email, tweet, send a carrier pigeon. Whatever it takes.

This is a must-read thread.
The industry is busy cooking up lies backed by millions of dollars to kill the public option.
But the truth is that the public option will save lives and money.
If we get this message out, we can win common-sense reform.
So help us spread the word!
Get this, my former health insurance industry colleagues are trying to intimidate lawmakers again - this time in Connecticut - because the state government has the gall to consider a public health plan that could compromise some of the industry’s massive profits. It's despicable.
Kevin Lembo says CT legislators have access to one of the most expansive, affordable, reliable, and efficient health plans in the state. They should make it available to small business and non-profits.
That is - the public option bill - Read his op-ed: https://t.co/gRmflidNHs
Millionaire insurance CEOs are trying to hold our government hostage and kill the public option to protect their record profits.
But small businesses, nonprofits, and working people are fighting back to demand access to affordable health care.
Read our statement:
Legislators this desperate to keep their constituents from accessing affordable health care should drop their taxpayer-funded coverage and put their money where their mouth is by buying plans for themselves for a while.
