🇺🇸 LAPSUS$ appears to be attempting something beyond traditional data theft and extortion.
The group is now openly incentivizing website defacements with cash rewards in XMR, effectively gamifying cybercrime activity and community participation.
At the same time, another post suggests a growing alignment between TeamPCP and Breached-related operations through a “co-ownership” and partnership announcement. If legitimate, this indicates a deeper consolidation inside the cybercriminal ecosystem where infrastructure operators, data brokers, and breach actors increasingly overlap.
The combination of:
• financial incentives
• community-driven attacks
• forum partnerships
• reputation-building mechanisms
shows how underground forums are evolving into organized ecosystems rather than isolated threat actors.
This also lowers the barrier for inexperienced actors seeking recognition inside the underground community.
