🚨Breaking : 7 Turkish Nationals, Including a Minor, Abducted in Kenya Amid Escalating Global Renditions by Türkiye
In a disturbing escalation of extraterritorial abductions, seven Turkish nationals, who are recognized refugees including a minor, have been reportedly abducted in Nairobi, Kenya. This comes amid growing global concern over Türkiye’s systematic state-sponsored renditions, as noted by the UN Committee Against Torture (CAT) in its most recent observations.
The CAT recently highlighted Türkiye’s use of extrajudicial renditions and forced returns of individuals affiliated with the Hizmet/Gülen Movement, often involving human rights violations like enforced disappearances and torture. As noted also by the CAT, Türkiye pursues its practice of State-sponsored extraterritorial abductions and forcible returns in coordination with [corrupt officials and] authorities in the host countries and with the involvement of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization. It is also a brazen defiance of the Human Rights Committee ahead of its review of Türkiye, which begins next week. The international community and Kenyan authorities must take immediate action NOW !!! to ensure the safety of these individuals and prevent Kenya from becoming complicit in such unlawful operations.
