Fresh off the Printer
🇺🇸 3D printed Squall platform by Firestorm Labs (@Firestorm_Labs).
"This is what expeditionary manufacturing looks like. Yesterday at sof week USSOCOM service members and hashtag#cadets from the United States Air Force Academy and United States Naval Academy built Firestorm Squall platforms out of xCell, our “factory at the front”, in the midst of Class IX production. Despite first time building, average manufacturing time under an hour."
- David Hubler Director, Army Partnerships at Firestorm Labs
At the US Army's Right to Integrate Hackathon (Operation Jailbreak), government and industry teams collaborated to connect leading defense systems and solve real-world interoperability challenges 🤝
🇺🇸 Blue Ops, a maritime division of Red Cat Holdings (@RedCatHoldings) is ramping into full-rate production of the Variant 7 (V7) unmanned surface vessel (USV).
"This platform brings together U.S. boatbuilding expertise, a modern tech stack that was designed and developed domestically, and a defense-ready supply chain for customers who cannot compromise on origin, reliability, or adaptability. We designed Variant 7 to be built at scale and configured for the missions our customers face."
- Barry Hinckley, President of Blue Ops

🇰🇷 Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) of South Korea (@dapapr) announced successful localization for laser oscillator for its Directed Energy weapon System "Cheon-Gwang" (Heaven's LIght).
According to DAPA, there is more than 50% improvement in key performance and shorter defeat time of 1 -2 seconds from 2-4 seconds.
🇺🇸 Motorola Solutions (@MotoSolutions) announced today that it has entered to acquire D-Fend Solutions (@DFendSolutions) for $1.5 billion.
"Rogue drones have transformed our skies into a landscape of unpredictable risk, where simple detection is no longer enough. With D-Fend, drone threats are not just identified — their communications are overridden and redirected, safely bringing them to the ground, keeping people and communities safe.”
- Greg Brown, chairman and CEO of Motorola Solutions.

WALDO (Whereabouts Ascertainment for Low-lying Detectable Objects)
AI model by Stephen Sturges
"WALDO is a detection AI model, based on a large YOLO-v8 backbone and my own synthetic data pipeline. The model is capable of detecting these classes of items in overhead imagery ranging in altitude from about 30 feet to satellite imagery!"
- Stephen Sturges
One of the main use cases for WALDO has always been ground-risk mitigation: the AI can spot where there are groups of people on the ground and make sure your drone won't fly too close to those areas.

SHATTER4K
🇨🇭 SwissP Defence AG, part of Beretta Holding offers SHATTER4K, an anti-drone ammunition with controlled release of effectors for light aerial targets (NATO UAS Class | drones).
"When SHATTER4K is fired, the projectile shell separates shortly after leaving the muzzle. Four effectors continue their flight slightly offset from the launch axis and move toward the target. This creates multiple impact paths from a single shot, significantly increasing the probability of interaction with light air targets."
Key features 🔽
- Compatible with standard service rifles and machine guns
- Standard-size cartridge with four effectors
- Optimized fragmentation against aerial targets
- Linked configuration possibility

🇺🇸 Neros Technologies (@neros_tech) introduced Crossbow Block 2, Archer FPV's next generation ground control station (GCS). The firm reported that the system is already being shipped to customers and will be fielded in upcoming Gauntlet 2 of Drone Dominance.
Half the weight from previous GCS but twice the beam width and dual receivers for redundancy.
"More than 2x the beam width and dual receivers for redundancy so operators can focus on their target rather than antenna orientation. Redesigned antennas with reduced profile and reinforced joints for extra durability."
🇺🇸 Picogrid (@Picogrid) announced close of a $45 million Series A led by Bessemer Venture Partners. The firm plans to grow its product family and scale deployments with US military, allied forces, and the partner vendors building on the platform.
"The systems are getting better, but the seams between them aren’t keeping up. Operators in the field are paying that tax every day, and our job is to take it off them. This funding helps us meet demand already in front of us from US forces and allies, continue to invest in the infrastructure powering the next generation of defense and scale our production in California, Oklahoma, and across the country."
- Zane Mountcastle, CEO of Picogrid.
