NEWS: Ranking Members @RepRaskin, @RepJayapal, @SenatorDurbin, and @SenAlexPadilla condemn the Trump Administration’s decision to slash refugee admissions to 7,500—almost entirely limited to white South Africans—without the legally required consultation with Congress.

Members of Congress like @RepDanGoldman are standing up for refugees and immigrants against unprecedented attacks every day. We are proud to work together to save the refugee program and protect our communities!
Today I met with @CWS_global New York to discuss the vital work they do supporting refugees, immigrants, and asylum seekers in our city, who are under unprecedented attack from Trump’s militarized secret ICE police.
Trump’s abuse of power and disdainful, inhuman attack on immigrants is un-American and unacceptable.
I’m grateful for the work of Church World Service fighting back.
I’m beyond outraged that the Trump administration is now mass-firing diplomats at the State Department–including members of the CARE team assisting Afghan refugees 🧵
So grateful to my dear friend and sister Bishop Mariann Budde for bearing witness to the love and mercy and compassion of our God. This is what it looks like to speak the truth in love.
Urgent issue requiring immediate international attention.
The Chinese Communist Party is pressuring Thailand to deport and forcibly repatriate 43 Uyghur refugees, currently detained in Thailand, to China. If the Thai government forces them back to China, these innocent people face torture, ethnic cleansing, or death in forced labor camps. We are hoping Thailand will live up to their obligations under the Convention Against Torture, which they ratified, and which prohibits the return of people to countries where they face torture.
I am respectfully calling on the Thai government to immediately halt this unconscionable deportation and turn these refugees over to the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees.

Expanding #TPS through a new designation for Ecuador and redesignations for Nicaragua and Venezuela would:
✅Protect individuals from these countries
✅Enable legal employment and family support
✅Preserve community and economic stability

Refugees and asylum seekers are often blamed for driving up housing costs—but that’s simply a myth. The real culprit? A 7.3 million unit affordable housing shortage. Federal programs like HUD and Low-Income Housing Tax Credits are underfunded, not overwhelmed by newcomers.

"I want to be very clear -- I am not against this program."
Kudos to Gov. DeWine, a Republican, for largely cutting through the BS on Haitians arriving in Ohio.
He's also 100% right - the govt must do more to support welcoming communities. Here's how🧵

Domestic rainwater harvesting (DRWH) systems are vital for water security in rural Latin America and the Caribbean. Recently, 30 participants from El Salvador and Honduras built a 52,000L cistern at a school in El Salvador, supported by @dakisemiaridovivo and @cws_global.
